Not on a label or anything, but self-releasing and selling off their website - got a new EP out, their site looks better than it used to, and they are just generally BACK!

"To our friends,
We are making an appeal to you.
We need to tell you what the situation is with the band and the second album. Basically we have no record label and very little money. We thought that the ‘Madame Sing-Sing’ EP would raise money for an album but, even though we have broken even and gone into a small amount of profit, we have not raised enough money to go back into the studio with Mark van Hoen as we would have liked. Our only hope is now you guys.
Many of you might not have bought the ‘Madame Sing-Sing’ EP as perhaps you were waiting for the full-length. Well, the deal is this – if you DON’T buy the EP there will be no album. So if you would like to see a second Sing-Sing album and you haven’t bought the EP yet, we would strongly urge you to do so. Of course, not enough of you might buy the EP even for this but if you don’t then at least you will have the last songs ever released by Sing-Sing. To be perfectly honest, the future of the band now really rests with this. Please help us out.
If you would like to hear and even download for free a track off the EP as a taster, you can do so here:
http://www.sing-sing.co.uk/MP3.html
So that’s that. Sorry if this seems a bit desperate but these are desperate times in the music business. The thing is – Sing-Sing is now a cottage industry and in our quest to be truly independent, we have to operate like this and not be dependent record company advances (which are all very well but with that comes the worry that you may always be dropped if you aren’t ‘performing’ as well as they would like). This is the way many bands are operating now – relying on their fans and not record labels.
Of course, buying anything in the shop, not just the EP, will help. We can tell you that we now have vinyl available to buy too. The ‘Panda Eyes’ single that was released on Elefant Records (7” red vinyl – very cool) is back in stock and, for the first time, we have the vinyl version of ‘The Joy of Sing-Sing’ album which was only released in North America. All the other EPS, except for the Manifesto promo, are still available (with b-sides unavailable elsewhere) as are T-shirts.
So that’s that. We would love to make another album and we hope you would love to see one too. All the songs are ready to go so if you feel you can spare a few quid/dollars/euros please do.

How sad that no label wants to pick them up.

Hello,
Well, at last we can tell you exactly when you can hear the fruits of our past year’s labour.
‘Lover’ will be available for download on 27th June 2005. The track was produced by Mark van Hoen and mixed by Alan Moulder (who mixed 2 tracks on the ‘Madame Sing-Sing EP’). It’s a feisty little ditty which romps along – we think you will like it.
The album,‘Sing-Sing and I’, will be released on July 11th 2005. Eleven beautiful new tracks produced by Mark van Hoen with some assistance on the production and mixing front by El Drezidente, Alan Moulder and Ray O’Neill. Tracks include ‘Mister Kadali’, ‘Come, Sing Me a Song’, ‘Going Out Tonight’, ‘A Kind of Love’, ‘I Do’, ‘Ruby’, ‘When I Was Made’, ‘Unseen’ and ‘Lover’ (that’s not eleven, we know..there are more!). You can’t wait? Neither can we!Also, the shop is being revamped to take in the new products and to make purchasing Sing-Sing product a more efficient and pleasurable experience.

A band bemoaning their wish to be "truly independent" then going on about how they need X,Y or Z producer to "really capture their sound." Why not record it yourself? How difficult is it to record stuff on your laptop with cubase or whatever? Or a fucking 4-track for that matter?!
Anyway, I expect this is totally out of date by now. Good luck, Sing Sing!! I expect a major label will sign you up soon...

Way, way more difficult and potentially more expensive than you'd appear to know the first thing about.

"When I Was Made" just came up on random play and there's no reason why this shouldn't have been a hit. All the Camera Obscura fans out there should have been all over this.

And that's it...
Dear all,Firstly, we hope you have had a great holiday season.Secondly, sorry that we have been so quiet of late. Things have been changing in our personal lives in very significant ways so we haven`t had much to report bandwise...Until now that is....After 10 mostly very happy but sometimes very difficult years we have decided to `call it a day` (i.e. end) with Sing-Sing. In 2006 Emma moved to Brighton, East Sussex where she is involved in music publicity and last year Lisa wed her long-term partner Run Wrake, moved to the Kent countryside and is enjoying her new found freedom as a mum and freelance graphic designer. Even Mark van Hoen, our erstwhile producer, is moving to the USA later in 2008.So we leave behind 2 albums `The Joy of Sing-Sing` (2001) and `Sing-Sing and I` (2005) and many singles. If you haven`t got the full set most of you can buy everything on iTunes now (remember to search for `Sing-Sing` with the hyphen). We do still have physical stock in our shop and we do need to clear it all out before the end of January so please take a peek and take advantage of our mad sale which will end on January 31st (link on the left of the page). The website will also be shutting down at that time but we are going to leave our myspace page up for information and contact.
