Normally hate this guy and anything electroclashy, but that's kinda the point - this isn't. It's very, very, very good, featuring collabs with Alan Vega, Billie Ray Martin etc, deep, slightly punky and noisy in places, properly techno in others. It's not out quite yet but has anyone else heard it? If not, consider this a strong recommendation.

Richard Hell went electroclash? Wow, I am dissappointed...

I *really* like the Bille Ray Martin track - I don't recall her having that good a voice - and the really acid-y one. It's like 20 minutes too long though.

Not heard it yet, in fairness Hell himself never went electroclash did he? At least I can't think of any actual releases he made which were really electroclash.

It's a totally over maligned genre anyway cos half the dance press are so paranoid about anything with a bit of pretention or attitude, and similarly snobby about anything cheesey so who knows what they want really. I guess possibly it's Jockey Slut style laddism in places. Anyway electroclash was really (REALLY) important, this is surely clear by now?

Everything that now is or that recently was a slight deviation from the old dance formula will eventually come to be the new formula, things like electroclash will make even more sense in a few years. Same way in a city like Dublin (and presumably this happened already in London) where dance is in recession slightly the clubs which emerge and become popular immediately post recession will seem slightly odd but gradually will seem part of a wider global movement, consciously or otherwise.

Maybe I should start a new thead. I'll see how this goes.

I look forward to hearing this DJ Hell thing.

two months pass...
The album has some really cool tracks - the first 3 or 4 but then kinda disappears into more straight techno?

one year passes...
I'd like to know how much of this album is in fact DJ Hell's; after all Abe Duque is credited as producing, mixing, and programming all tracks. Was Hell at the console some of the time and therefore credited?

That having been said, 'Let no man jack' always fires me up when I hear it, which dutifully makes up for me cringing through 'Tragic Picture Show' with James LCD Murphy.
