I know there are few people here who'll want to know that I've just heard from a very reliable source that this classic album is finally going to be reissued on CD.

I'll let you know more when I find out.

This album was a big dissapointment whe I finally heard it. Just not very good.
Still love them for their other stuff though!

Update: "Supposedly it's out next month in Japan, and UK to follow. I doubt for the US, but it should be cheap from Amazon UK or something."

this is awesome news!

Awesome news indeed (though I'd still have to throw the "best Slits ever" award to the Peel Sessions comp). "Earthbeat" is one of their all-time best tracks.

one month passes...
anyone got the track listing for this?

I d/l eight tracks from slsk that, as far as I know (=> means the person I d/l from lists these as tracks from 'return...'), are from this record but I can't seem to find the info on the web.

AMG has!

The original vinyl was:
Earthbeat
Or What It Is?
Face Place
Walk About
Difficult Fun
Animal Space/Spacier
Improperly Dressed
Life On Earth

"American Radio Interview" was originally on a 7" given away with the first x,000 copies of the album with "Face Dub" on the B-side.

If you like what you're hearing it's also worth trying to track down "Earthdub", "Begin Again Rhythm" (these were the B-sides of the "Earthbeat 12" so I'd imagine (hope!) they'll be on the new CD when it comes out too) "In The Beginning There Was Rhythm", "Man Next Door" and "Man Next Door (Version)" (these were all released on a different label (Rough Trade) so I'd think they're unlikely to be on the CD).

no more rock and roll for you...

Slime!

If anyone's having difficulty waiting for the UK release it looks as if the Japanese import's available now.

What's the Live anthology like?

This one http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000024THU.02.LZZZZZZZ.gif ?

Ropey to be honest.

If you want live Slits stuff I reckon you'd be far better off talking nicely to the young man who runs this site.

thanks for the info stewart. that is what i have. It needs a few more listens but so far I think its far better than 'cut' (never liked that one).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Better than Cut?

Better than Cut?

But hardly anything's better than Cut!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

stewarts right. i think. but i haven't heard revenge for...23 years. so maybe its good.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I definitely prefer ROTGS to Cut. Cut is of course still great, but just sounds slightly over-worked. ROTGS is unimpeachably wonderful- no-one's ever got close to the genius of Face Place and Difficult Fun. I shall keep my lovely vinyl come what may.

(Stew - I have done your Psych/Harmony-Pop CD this morning. Will post in the next few days.)

I was in Tower Records in Tokyo today, and it's there.

Debito (Debito), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)
