Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:19 (twenty-two years ago)

how about a new album?

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It takes 'em a couple years to bang one out, y'know.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah samples galore. i forgot about that. well than they should put out some kinda dj mix album or a live album or something like that

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

The live BBC mix is awesome

ModJ (ModJ), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

All the usual suspects.

ModJ (ModJ), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

glenny g2003 (glenny g2003), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently it is more orchestral sounding.

mint condition, Wednesday, 21 January 2004 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

there are four BBC mixes, the two Breezeblocks, the 'Live In Ibiza' mix and they also did a mix for One World although i think this is actually 'Cornerstone'

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
fuck id this avalanches song (female vox; uptempo):

MMM NA NA MM NA NA NA MMM NA NA NANANAN NA NA

it was in a commercial

green uno skip card (ex machina), Friday, 11 March 2005 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Closest thing on the album is "Two Hearts in 3/4 Time" (track 4)...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 11 March 2005 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe it was new buffalo

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Friday, 11 March 2005 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

It was not Two Hearts in 3/4 time. maybe it wasn't an avalanches song... fuck this is driving me nuts

it was way more uptempo.... argghhh

green uno skip card (ex machina), Friday, 11 March 2005 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

its a Toyota commercial

green uno skip card (ex machina), Friday, 11 March 2005 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

let's mention the remix for the Concretes, too.
Chico (Avalanches' 'Wernham Hogg' Remix) - even better than the original.

mister zane (mister_zane), Friday, 11 March 2005 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, it's an overdosed psychedelic version fo the original, which doesn't make it better. The only original they've ever topped with a remix is the 'Sean Penn Remix' of MSP's 'So Why So Sad', making it one of the best tracks of the decade.

BARMS, Friday, 11 March 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Jon - is it Electricity?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Their mix of Enter Space Capsule was easily better than the original, but nowhere near as good as the Radio Disko or guitarsarecool mixes, so they still lose...

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 11 March 2005 14:34 (twenty-one years ago)

nooooo way more uptempo... maybe not avalanches.... i totally have an mp3 of it too

green uno skip card (ex machina), Friday, 11 March 2005 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Jon, are you saying it's the Avalanches just because you think it sounds like them?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 11 March 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

(And do you know for a fact that it's not on Since I Left You?)

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 11 March 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i want a new Avalanches album.

Ludo (Ludo), Friday, 11 March 2005 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

If you have an mp3 of it, why don't you yousendit or something?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 11 March 2005 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

five months pass...
I heard a Simply Red song recently that I believe the Avalanches sampled. I thought it was on Gimix, but the tracklist doesn't show any Simply Red. (I swore it was mixed with "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do).") I don't remember the name of the song. Is it on Since I Left You? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 15 August 2005 00:41 (twenty years ago)

Okay, I'm dumb: it's "Sunrise." And it samples Hall and Oates. But the Avalanches were not involved anywhere. Thank you.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 15 August 2005 00:54 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
i was just listening to gimix.
why haven't they put a new album out yet?

Christopher Costello (CGC), Tuesday, 15 November 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

As far as I know, there aren't even RUMOURS.

I'd be delighted to be corrected, though.

Buffalo Stan (Buffalo Stan), Tuesday, 15 November 2005 12:07 (twenty years ago)

Matt DC, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 10:23 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah I got the email too, but after some research it turns out that it's by a 60's band called The Avalanches.

baaderonixx, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

blueski, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe. Let's see.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 11:13 (nineteen years ago)

use the other thread[/i]

MRZBW, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

...but where is The One?

braveclub, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't "Ski Surfin'" the big record that spins around behind the Mexican dudes in the "Frontier Psychiatrist" video?

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 16:00 (nineteen years ago)

Damn! Even putting a whole bunch of terminating italics code didn't work!

This board sucks.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

i don't mind if it stays italic forever.
