childhood: Kiss - Alive II, Bert's Blockbusters (Sesame St.)

6th/7th grade: Scorpions - Love At First Sting

8th grade: Led Zeppelin IV

9th grade: Peter Gabriel - So, Kate Bush - Hounds of Love

10th grade: Ultravox - Vienna, REM - Life's Rich Pageant

11th/12th grade: The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead, The Cure - Faith, Joy Division - Substance, New Order - Movement, etc.

1990: Galaxie 500 - On Fire (it gets a little blurry after this)

mid 90s and beyond: Unrest - Imperial f.f.r.r. in particular, but also others too numerous to list

current: hmm I dunno... Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure, Can - Future Days, New Order - Movement...

I listen to most of these pretty regularly still - haven't spun the Sesame St. or Scorps LPs in a while, though. I have favourite albums by favourite bands, but no longer have one favourite album or one favourite band.

U2 held sway from Joshua Tree up through Zooropa, each album being my "favorite album ever" at one time or another. Briefly, the The's Dusk was up in the mix. But from 1996 to the present nothing has come close to Underworld's Second Toughest In the Infants, although Neko Case gave it a fair shot for a bit.

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Carole King - Tapestry
Replaced by Blue
2. Madonna - Immaculate Collection
Replaced by Big Star -#1
3. Guided by Voices - Alien Lanes
Replaced by Neutral Milk Hotel - In An A...
4. Ramones - first three albums
Replaced by No New York
5. George Michael - Faith
Replaced by Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
This is giving me a headache.
