...playing on the same night here in Madrid. I'm truly pissed off. Who would you go see?

also you want to take into account the fact that mills' sets are like 75% his own material ... so your mileage will vary on how much you like his music. what i can say from seeing mayer this year is that it was much less microhouse/kompakt oriented than i thought. to be fair, i figured he'd be playing 100% kompakt-related material.

manuel is this the "Exhibitionist" tour? to promote the new jeff mills DVD that SONAR is putting out? i heard that SONAR did a test screening in tokyo where they somehow integrated the DVD into his set ... uh, sounds kinda hokey but i heard it got a big reaction. so who knows, that could be cool too.

Mills doesn't always deliver live. I've seen him play some pretty pedestrian sets over the years...but when he's on form he can be amazing. You'll most likly be neck deep in pilled-up 18 year olds, which may impact your decision one way or another.

If it were me, I'd go see Mayer...but I've never seen him play live.

Maybe he was using the Pioneer DVJ-X1? That's actually something I'd really like to see...

i think the concept of the dj set was that the DVD (which is basically a film of jeff milss djing) was playing on a large screen. jeff was mixing records against the audio track on the DVD ... so sort of like a 4x1200 set except he didn't have a whole lot of control over the third and fourth decks.

if he had been using a DVJ-X1 (if there's any club in the world i'd expect to have one i guess it'd be the liquid room) to chop up the DVD that would be something, too. though there wasn't any mention of that on the sonar page.

mills was one of the best dj sets i've ever seen, but he's always "on tour" isn't he? go see mayer.
