To run parallel with Who have you got most music by? .

Though I'm not sure I could answer it.

I think I listen to Guns N Roses a hell of a lot more than I thought. I seem to have played some parts of Use Your Illusion every week for the past couple of years.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I play a kinks album at least once a week.

Luigi Vampa (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark Kozelek in all forms. Solo, RHP and Sun Kil Moon.

Chris V (Chris V), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know whether I'm fickle or easily bored or what, but I honestly can't think of one thing (album/single/band/artist) that I've listened to at least once a month for the last year. For the last three months even. Maybe Plaid over the last three months.

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

The Kinks would be close to the top. Also, the Handsome Family and Hank Williams.

Catherine (Catherine), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

For the last year, Rebirth Brass Band.

Before that, maybe John Coltrane.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Also Jay-Z.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Jazz Butcher or Yo La Tengo always seem to be the defaults when I can't decide what else to listen to.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh, even my 'default listening' changes. This month it's been anything on Warp.

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Over my whole lifetime? Probably the Pet Shop Boys, the Smiths and Bob Dylan. It would be the Smiths easily except I've not played their stuff so much in the last couple of years.

In the last week? The CDs I've played most have been the A-Ha greatest hits and a county compilation called "Truck Drivers Boogie".

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

The Stone Roses is probably the album I've listened to most, and easily the band I've listened to most if you take b-sides and so on into account. But even that's been very rare for the last four years or more.

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Roland Kirk
Horace Silver
Miles Davis
Dylan and/or The Band
Kinks (!)

christoff (christoff), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Over my life, probably Eels. In the past year or so... errr... maybe Half Man Half Biscuit. Or Blak Twang.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

for the last few months it's been a tie between Joao Gilberto and LCD Soundsystem, but i think the LCD is gonna wear off. Joao, on the other hand might, is on his way to becoming my official "default" music. it's impossible to get weary of something so smooth. but of all time as of right now it's the smashing pumpkins.

Felcher (Felcher), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

wtf's with all the Kinks love?

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Playing bass in a band has re-lit the rock and roll fires, the past year to year and half has been about going back to older records.

Because of this situation, I've been listening to at least one CD by Mike Watt with The Minutemen, fIREHOSE or his solo records every few days. I also always tend to listen to at least one cd by The Fall a week.

I've been listening to Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Husker Du and Rush cds over and over the past few weeks. I always had a Motorhead compilation, but the albums are a newer thing. I hadn't really listened to Iron Maiden or Rush much since I was in high school and got into punk rock, both were favorites of mine back in the day. Husker Du is a long time obsession, but I hadn't listened to them much in a long, long time, probably early to mid 90s.

I generally go through phases on a band, where I will listen to every record I have by them two or three times in a few weeks, then rotate onto an another artist.

Aphex Twin's 'SAW II' and Brian Eno 'Music for Airports' I have listened to over and over putting them on at bedtime.

earlnash, Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

The Cure I think? But I'm not sure, actually.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

belle & sebastian... a sad bastard, me

Sonny A. (Keiko), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

In the past couple years, probably Sun Ra.

Rockist Scientist, Wednesday, 21 January 2004 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Just recently, Talking Heads. In the last 3 years, the Pixies. In my lifetime, god knows. Probably still the Pixies actually.

Chris Jones (Crackity Jones), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Rainer Maria and my Rubble boxes

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

For the last year or so I've been listening to Miles Davis every day, but that's because of the book I'm writing, so I'm not sure it "counts."

I generally listen to Cecil Taylor at least 3-4 times a week. Same with Motorhead.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Over the last few months, probably Rhythm & Sound.
Over the last five years or so, difficult to highlight one artist, I think.
Over a life time, probably REM or Teenage Fanclub.

Although I'm probably grossly underestimating the total hours spent on Wishbone Ash, c1972-1980.

Snnap Dragon (snnap dragon), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Chet Baker, Tom Waits, Prince.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Iggy Pop, and I don't even like him that much. I just have this tape in my stereo and it doesn't annoy me so I end up always listening to that. Other than the radio. I like listening to the radio because I hear songs and don't know who they're by and hate them, and then it turns out they're by people I know, and then I can reason to myself that I don't hate the song just because I'm jealous. If I had a plan I would listen to 'Maybe the Madman' by the Troggs. The single is right by my stereo so it wouldn't be exactly hard to put it on. Nevertheless this is a utopian fantasy. There's only one record I actually want to listen to but it's too hard to get. I mean I would have to go on the internet and order it and pay lots of money. Recorded music is a load of rubbish.

Amity (Amity), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i seem to also be listening to an absurd amount of OMD lately

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 22 January 2004 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)
