Has anyone mentioned the use of Amon Tobin's "Sordid" in the new BMW X3 commercial yet? Has it reminded anyone else of how fucking fantastic Amon Tobin is when he puts his mind to it?

Yeah, I freaked the hell out about it in some ILE thread or another. Man that was neat.

Out From Out Where was OK, but -- and y'all know I usually don't bitch about this sort of thing -- it sounded kind of atypical and flat with the emphasis on technoid robo-sounds instead of the bop-noir Herrmann/Mingus collisions he usually pulls off so well.

Haha! And my freakout was in a Dan Perry thread!

your link is almost as wrong as your take on ofow¡

dyson (dyson), Saturday, 24 January 2004 04:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i know i've had this debate about ofow before, can't be arsed to look it up, tho.
basically i felt it was a return to form for amon. in the sense that the album had more flow to it. i thought the overall sound was much less "robo" than supermodified - seems more organic to me.

i take back what i said about the link. i found yer post.
sorry.

AT's music lends itself to commercials pretty nicely (see also: "Nightlife" in a Comedy Central spot, "Deo" in a Coke commercial, and "Get Your Snack On" in I think another BMW ad). I saw this one the other day and I didn't think it was done particularly well.
