Wheelchair Stars

Just had this kind of weird thought about how many people in wheelchairs there had been in the music biz.

Personally I can think of Vic Chestnutt, Robert Wyatt and Teddy Pendergrass. Ian Dury was never so ill from his Polio that he needed a wheelchair, was he?

Anyway, any others?

Curtis Mayfield, I assume.

Correct about Mayfield, although I believe his accident ended his music career

(Which was almost the case with Teddy Pendergrass too, but he has at last recorded some stuff afterwards).

Mayfield recorded his final album "New World Order" after the accident, lying on his back in the studio.
I remember seeing a video by Dave Howard Singers- a cover of "Rock On" in which he was chair-bound, though that doesn't mean that he needed said wheelchair

Similar to Jarvis, Robert Plant broke both his legs during the recording of "Presence" and was confined to a wheelchair for months, except he never performed with it live.

DJ Paul Jackson who had a big hit with 'Get Get Down' a few years back has been wheelchair-bound for some time. He makes a cameo in the video for Daft Punk's 'Burnin' (actually at the decks of the party in the tower) I think.

Snoop Dogg, but only when performing "Murder Was the Case."

I'm not sure if he was really wheelchair bound, or just used it for the glory of the album cover:

John Popper got so large he was in a wheelchair. Luckily, he could still play the harmonica.
