What's the rationale behind Allmusic.com's changing the star ratings on certain albums?

I think I noticed it for the first time when I looked up the Detroit Cobras and saw that their first LP was 3 stars, and their second was 4 1/2. Months later I was on that page again, and both were 4 1/2. I know there are a few AMG writers wandering around on here, and I'm sure this has happened with other albums. Is this just a reassesment of the albums in the context of the artist's overall career or the powers-that-be deciding something is better/worse than they originally thought?

SEARCH. THE. ARCHIVES.

*ahem* Sorry, Gear, as you're a good sort. But trust me, there are about twenty AMG threads or so and this question has been asked on about half of them.
