Lifting bits of "Love Like Blood". Anyone know the origin of this?

Hear it here:

The song is Cannot Contain This, but I'm not familiar with this mix.

Alex, I've never knowingly heard any Killing Joke. Where do I start?

Well, this question comed up every so often, and I generally suggest starting off with their first album. There are a couple of compilations of theirs out (notably Laugh? I Nearly Bought One and the newly released Killing Joke for Beginners), but each seem to either omit crucial tracks or concentrate on less relevant (to the overall trajectory) periods of the band. Their eponymously titled first album pretty much set their template. A bit rougher, harder and cruder than their later work, but their overall aesthetic and arguably bleak world perspective has never really waivered. My favorite album of theirs remains Night TIme, wherein -- or at least I believe -- their hard edge was seamlessly welded with their attempt at a more accessible "chart-friendly" approach (later albums would dip back and forth between these two poles). Their latest album (also eponymously titled, but original titled The Death & Resurrection Show) offers a fine taste of the band as well.

Old rockers always go to one extreme or the other. Geordie went all beefcake!

Incidentally, the only reason i revived this thread as my iTunes here at the office randomly selected this remix Moloko track -- which subtlely uses Geordie's elegiac guitars to magical effect.

geordie is quite simply, the coolest guitarist on the planet. if you saw killing joke on the tube performing love like blood you'll notice geordie putting so little effort into THAT guitar riff. and curse that chris connelly for ruining damage manual with that bloody voice. actually, when i saw the damage manual album and read who was on it it was like wobble - ooh, atkins - ooh, geordie - woo, laswell - ooh, connelly - bugger.

Despite Connelly's annoying vocal traits, I think his album as The Bells is quite ace.

connelly with the fini tribe was ok, with revco - ok but after that... the damage manual is a file under 'should have been great, but...' band. admittedly there are some fine moments on there.
