To recap: Shirokuma is a old, dear friend of mine whose album I produced mid to late last year. At last things are ready to roll, records are pressed, website up, band rehearsed etc.
The first EP, "Moonlight in the Afternoon" is out on the 16th of Febuary on Faith and Hope records. The rather tasty album, "Secret Moves at the Midnight Chess Club" will be out a few months later.
Myself and Jarlrmai are backing him up live, along with avant-house pioneer Robin MacKenzie and J-Pop wunderkid Naoko. Expect sloppy beats, daft dancing and lyrics about cats. The only date I can slip you so far is on the 13th of Febuary at the Retro Bar in Manchester as part of To Amy With Love. Details:-
http://www.toamywithlove.co.uk/
We should be hitting London, Scotland, Liverpool, Nottingham . . . basically everywhere sometime soon but I've not got a confimation yet.
The website is live, put together in the main by my lovely girlfriend Celeste and is at

There are previews and full non-album mp3's there. Have a listen.
I'll be adding to this when I know tour dates etc.
P.S. Apologies to Nick Southall for my lack of communication over the last couple of months but this has had my focus. I'll be in touch.
P.P.S. Did I mention I'm putting out a record myself in a few months? Probably. Oh well. I'll give all details on tours and discs for that when I know what's going on.

We think the single was reviewed then and we haven't got a copy.

Anyways, the gig is tommorow - any Manchester ILXor's fancy coming down, meeting myself and Jarlr'mai and having a general knees-up?

Seeing as I'm probably going to be talking to myself on this thread I think I'll use its ignored nature to give my opinion on some ILM faves
Loveless - It's marvelous. Been with me for years.
Hey Ya - It's entertaining but i'm sick to death of hearing about it
Dave Matthews - Tosser. Evil.
Dizzee - Fair play lad, not my thing though. Nice attitude, shit clothes.
Emo - Fucking boring
Undie - Fucking boring
Basement Jaxx - I am utterly ambivalent towards them although they strike me the band a lot of early thirties blokes say they like to feel a bit younger than they are.
Junior Senior - Die you fucking novelty shitheads
Justin Timberlake / Nu-Pop in general - See my Basement Jaxx answer
Kelis "Milkshake" - I'm glad it exists but I'll never hear it out of the context of it being in the background whilst I'm shopping for cheese
Kompakt et al - See my Basement Jaxx answer
The Darkness - They're not worth hating. They're not worth anything.
Do we like the Scissor Sisters? - Do we fuck. What is wrong with you people?
Franz Ferdinand - Awful, awful, awful. They make me feel like time is slowing down
Are accusations of tokenism valid re: Pazz and Jop - DO YOU PEOPLE REALISE HOW SMALL YOUR FUCKING BUBBLEWORLD IS? GO OUTSIDE! GET SOME FRESH AIR!
Should Calum be banned? - Yes
Has ILM gone to shit? - No
Should Aja be allowed to post? - No
The Strokes - Yay or Nay? - Nay. Studied charmless bullshit that people like because its never occured to them not to like it
The Strokes backlash - Yay or Nay? - Nay. It's studied journo obviousness that people latch onto because its never occured to them not to
Timbaland - He's alright
Ryan Adams - an Andreas Johnsson for our times
Has the NME gone to shit? - Yes, but they gave props to the NEW SHIROKUMA SINGLE THAT IS OUT ON MONDAY AND IS THE BEST FUCKING RECORD YOU'VE HEARD IN MONTHS YOU GODDAMN NAVEL-GAZING WIERDOS
Is music in general going to shit? - No because there is this dude called LYNSKEY who is putting out a record in a few months that at least attempts to address the problems and sheer fucking helplessness of being just another digital non-entity in this sheer fucking sea of flesh and information rather than going "She-she-she-la-la-la" or having a rilly-rilly-grebt-spikejonzezes-vidyo featuring robotic cats or some other shite like that.
But you don't give a fuck do you. Back to your mindless revolving conversations about whatever you think makes you one-step-ahead of all the other identikit dregs that make up humanity.
