a Trackmasters thread

because, amazingly, short of a lame taking sides vs. Premo thread, there's never been one. but seriously, they've probably been making more hits for longer than almost anyone, but never had a Neptunes-type zeitgeist moment. granted, they don't have as identifiable a 'brand' sound, and they've probably done as many crappy generic beats as serious bangers, but still. so maybe a search & destroy is in order. my favorites:

Jay-Z f/ Sauce Money - "Face Off"
Nick Cannon f/ B2K - "Feelin' Freaky"
Biggie f/ Diana King - "Respect"
Luda, LL, Keith Murray - "Fatty Girl"

also, I have almost no idea which R. Kelly songs they've done and which were just the R.

"Fatty Girl" is a great sub-Neptunes no-nonsense club hit, if that makes sense.

But my favourite Trackmasters style is their eerie '99/'00 style goth-r&b, all those plonking pianos and rainshower effects on their remixes of Destiny's Child's "Bills Bills Bills" or Mya's "Best of Me".

oh shit, good call on the "Best of Me" rmx.

I've always loved LL's 'Doin It'. It's like a popped up Maurizio doing hip-hop. I like any song with dubby space-echo on it though.

So is this Trackmasters the same as the Trakmasterz who did Kool G's "Ill Street Blues"?

The remix they did for Michael Jackson's "Rock My World" featuring Jay-Z is sublime.
