From http://www.forcedexposure.com/artists/ave.rock.html

"Excellent debut album by original Ave Rock line-up is a very spacey psychedelic progressive effort from Argentina, featuring the sweet 'Ausencia', the moody 'El absurdo y la melodía', and the great guitars and organ of 'Gritos'; best track might well be long improvised instrumental 'Viva Bélgica'; a very good effort which included Daddy Antogna from Orion's Beethoven; full of shifting rhythms and rich melodies."

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 23:56 (twenty-two years ago)

These Argentine guys should fulfill your stoner rock needs: http://www.natasrock.com/

Socialist Norway offers Noxagt, who are on Load Records, America's most popular freakout rock label.

Famous Athlete, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Germany's a Marxist paradise compared to the US. A month's vacation, 35-hour work weeks, free edumacation, unionized hookers.

natisuta hetekata is. well, finnish and japanese, if the insert is to be trusted. and they're the freak-outest.

and then there's avarus, puke eaters, etc, etc. elonkorjuu, though they're marginal. but definitely finnish (jukka, pekka, ilkka, crazy names like that). and that doktor kettu band.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Since when was Germany hypercapitalist?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually I don't have any of their stuff meself I confess. I think they have a kind of folk/Bartok thing going on too.

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

only dirt poor third world countries make transcendant happy delerious headfuck groove music

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i've got that live album - all over the place, i guess the zappa/RIO influences, velvet underground, art rock &c. pretty good. _egon bondy's happy hearts club banned_ is best in my opinion, similar stuff but with an alien production quality that just makes it that much better. some jazzy tootling here and there, but excellent.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

only america makes good hiphop music
only the uk is good at grime
india is pretty good at ragas

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

there's some pretty good persian music coming out of california

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to *love* Hungary's Vagtazo Halottkemek (the Galloping Coroners) who were around in the early 90s and might be still going, who knows... Anyway, they played pretty noisy spacerock, sort of like a postpunk Amon Duul 2.

NickB (NickB), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Only HyperCapitalist Countries Market good freakout rock, successfully!

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

rock is such a good form i am surprised the whole world hasn't taken it up and embraced it and is blue cheer available in uzbekistan? yes? thank god.

mullygrubber (gaz), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

MARK OTM.

God, instead of discussing why this is true everyone is spending all their time thinking of third rate counterexamples. NERDS

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

But that's not really specific to "freakout rock" or even music in particular. You could say the same thing about, I dunno, shaving foam or cigarettes.

NickB (NickB), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

OK MAYBE I JUST MEAN THAT THE BRITZ DON'T MAKE ANY FREAKOUT ROCK LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD??????? ISLE OF FAGGOTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Eat my Soft Machine, bitch.

NickB (NickB), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Similar Artists: Caravan Genesis Gong King Crimson The United States of America Pink Floyd Matching Mole Robert Wyatt The Monks Hatfield and the North Aardvark Irmin Schmidt National Health David Bowie Frank Zappa Henry Cow

THIS SOUNDS BORING EXCEPT FOR KING CRIMSON. I REMAIN CONVINCED THAT BRITS ARE A BUNCH OF WHINY FAGS WHO SIT IN THE DOLE QUEUE AND THEN DANCE TO DANCE MUSIC.

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Well the freakout noise scene ain't the biggest, I'll concede that point. You know about Skullflower though, don't you?

NickB (NickB), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

heard of... what's the deal w. them

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you HEARD Aardvark??

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Skullflower: They were sort of roughly connected to bands like Whitehouse and Godflesh, but less industrial and more like some crazy free-noise Black Sabbath deal. ON HEAVY DRUGS!

NickB (NickB), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Scotland always claims it's a socialist country. And a lot of scotch bands claim to be socialists too. But I dont think it really counts and Scotland is part of the United Kingdom which obviously is a capitalist country and has the same government. And Theres not much difference between the Conservative governments and New Labour governments is there?

Henry, Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Scotland always claims it's a socialist country. And a lot of scotch bands claim to be socialists too.

No it doesn't. Scotch?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep. Scotch is what the 'scottish' call themselves.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha, of course we do.

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I was just trying to get Jon to say "Yes, I was thinking of socialist countries like Great Britain"

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, the french haven't done so well other than MAGMA

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if the 90's were so boring for KEWL ROCK in GB because MDMA was everywhere and everyone wanted KILLAH BEATZZZ?

Lil' Fancy Pants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:36 (twenty-two years ago)

... and is France anymore socialist than Germany?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

KILLAHHH BEATZZ? What, like Suede?

I wish it was as crazy and funtime as you're suggesting

You make that sound like it's a bad thing!!!!

I mean, wot do you do when a kickin' rock tune comes on in da club?!?!? Just stand around admiring the musical interplay or something?!?!?!? No, you flippin' well dance, don't you!!!!! (Or at least, as much as your fragile masculinity allows before that imaginary bloke rushes over to give you a hypothetical rogering up the brown-eye for daring to deviate from the Book of Rock Dude Cliches!!!!)

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And dance music is awfully big in Germany as well...

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark Grout, it's Scots or Scottish, not "Scotch"...

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"I mean, wot do you do when a kickin' rock tune comes on in da club?!?!?"

Lil' Fancy Kpants (ex machina), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
I said: "a kickin' rock tune", you silly person!!!! You know, like in a rock club!!!!! Anyway, do you stand still like a statue when some live band does a kickin' tune?!??! No, you flippin' well dance, don't you!!!!!
