Hi,

I have found out that all of us who have been trawling through used bins for "D I Goes Pop," "Technicolour," "69," and "I" can get up off of dirty floors in subterranean rat holes since One Little Indian US is expanding its US distribution.

Yay, I say.

By the way, I am not spamming. I have no connexion to One Little Indian. I just want to share my joy. Is that so wrong? Ned'll have my back, I'm sure.

Ned, Ned. Come back!

I guess this is where we thank Bjork for helping to fund this indirectly... or something.

Excellent. Now if only Alex + Rudi would get back to working together again as AR Kane. They recorded a track together on Alex's last solo record but that doesn't really count.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Thursday, 8 April 2004 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

very cool. i haven't heard '69' in many years

kephm, Thursday, 8 April 2004 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I feel like the only person in the world who doesn't see what was special about AR Kane. Disco Inferno though, great news!

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

yay, i'll be buying the ar kane albums on the day of release... wonder if they disco inferno ones will have any bonus tracks?

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Thursday, 8 April 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

haha yeah this WOULD happen just as i have tracked down about everything

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

You're fired. (Anyway, of course it's good news, etc.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex and Rudi getting back together would be a very bad thing indeed if New Clear Child is anything to go by.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

am i the ONLY one who likes new clear child?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't *mind* it but...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i listen to it the most these days

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:54 (twenty-two years ago)

it's got a certain afro-futurist chuck mangione charm

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, you can still find "D.I. Go Pop" the album pretty easily in the used bins. I'm just excited because I can finally get "Technicolour".

Big question: THE ROUGH TRADE SINGLES! What of them?

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope the DI albums are remastered.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:57 (twenty-two years ago)

iain crause must be the grumpiest man alive, from the stories i've heard

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 April 2004 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

NCC not the worst record ever made or anything, but it's hardly in the same class as their earlier stuff. I don't think I've played it more than five or six times in the god knows how many years I've owned it.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Remastering = yeah, right. One Little Indian have treated their Rough Trade inherited back catalogue like shit so far, why change now?

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

That Technicolor even came out at all was a bloody miracle.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I want bonus tracks from the AR Kane EPs!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I promise to give 'i' a better listen. maybe it's a case of not hearing it at the time of release, and it being influential enough that it just doesn't strike me as very distinctive.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Do Disco Inferno really need remastering? The records sound fine to me.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Di Go Pop and the early eps could use it.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Why? I think they're sonically quite amazing as they stand now. I mean, it's just delayed guitar, bass, a sampler, and grumpy lyrics. How much more can you remaster that and make it sound better?

Now, if someone would reissue the Supercollider albums, then the world will finally be healed.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Although "From The Devil..." sounds a bit buried... but that's just one song.. then again, even the buried sound of that song kinda gives it a flare.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

the levels are kind of low, and yeah, they sound a little muddied. I think an attempt to remaster them would be nice if they're going to be re-released.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I would agree that "In Debt" could use a refresh. But I think Rocket Girl now owns all the rights to all the Cheree-released Disco Inferno, which includes everything up until and including "Summer's Last Sound", so a remaster of THAT stuff might be in the works!

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a bit baffled by this talk of muddiness. My vinyl copy of DI Go Pop is supercrisp sounding, even after the hundreds of plays it's had.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

the vinyl copies probably sound okay, I think the cd sounds kind of funny though. maybe it's my bad ears.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Vinita has been thinking about it still -- it's up to her to decide!

I'm a bit baffled by this talk of muddiness.

Yeah, I was about to say.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 8 April 2004 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow. Suddenly I'm glad I didn't spend £25 on DI Go Pop on ebay...
