Apparently the label has moved all 500 copies, so some people here must have herd it. What's the verdict?

i really, really like it. lots of weird effects over what seems to be a classic 60s baroque pop songwriting sensibility. i can't comment on the live show, as i have bad luck arriving places in time to see them.

i was surprised at how much i like this cd...i wish i got to see them before.

they're playing nyc opening for secret machines at northsix but i just saw they're opening for destroyer at mercury lounge in may.

how are they live?

They are quite different live, those recordings on Palm Fronds are more electronic with a drum machine. Live they possess an enormous amount of sonic power, the drummer is really insane. You'll hear "live" versions/reworkings of songs on Palm Fronds, which while not the same, are still extremely impressive. Highly Recommend it.

hey but you're basically their manager! what's up anyway, man
but nothing he just wrote ain't true. they are totally different live and it is the same songs. one of the best NYC rock bands right now. . .along with who else there "christ"?
(yet what he'll say is also true)

hah ahah, correct Duke, but what else could I say....I also highly recommend The Occasion, look out for a split 10" coming out in Aug or Sept. with brand new Double and Occasion tracks

two months pass...
I just got the split 10" with the Occasion mentioned upthread and wow! This is why people should be excited about NYC music (if anyone is any more).

I bought this album after reading the beginning of this thread in the spring, and I love it. Looking forward to seeing them live and hearing what they record next time (with a healthy drummer).
