Mudhoney's My Brother The Cow replays backwards on the last track

on the SST cassette of Sonic Youth's self-titled EP, the A side is the original EP, and the B side is it backwards, complete with the tracklisting printed backwards on that side of the tape

D'Angelo's Voodoo has a quick backwards run through a bunch of parts of the album at the end of the last track

stone roses 'she's a waterfall/don't stop'

best example of this that i can remember was a tape called 'subliminal' by the evolution control committee. more than ten subliminal and self-help tapes were dubbed on top of each other on side one so you could simultanously lose weight, stop smoking, learn spanish etc etc. side two was the same thing backwards, so listening to it should help you gain weight, start smoking and forget spanish etc!

"Reoccuring Dreams" and "Dreams Reoccuring" off Husker Du's Zen Arcade

Clarke B. (Clarke B.), Monday, 7 June 2004 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Husker Du's 'Zen Arcade' has 'Dreams Reocurring' & 'Reocurring Dreams'(or 'Recurring', depending on whether you read the tracklisting on the record label or the sleeve), one of which is a portion of the longer track played backwards.

Bah!

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 7 June 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

napoleon xiv's "they're coming to take me away." the b-side of the single was the song backward, and if i'm not mistaken, all the writing on the label of the b-side was backward too.

On Come On Die Young, "Punk Rock" vs. "Punk Rock/Puff Daddy/Antichrist."

"The Year in Review," the last track by My Morning Jacket on their split with Songs:Ohia, is the previous three songs played backwards and sped up.

Steev (Steev), Monday, 7 June 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

All of Eno's vocals are backwards in one of the songs he did with Cluster. I think it's called Tzim N'arki. Which is fitting, I guess.

poop (poop), Monday, 7 June 2004 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

also at the end of "Surprize! It's Easter" by Erase Errata the song starts playing in reverse before it fades out.

poop (poop), Monday, 7 June 2004 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Tyrannosaurus Rex's Prophets, Seers, and Sages, the Angels of the Ages album has a track called "Deboraarobed," which is the song "Debora" followed by the whole song played backwards.

Tim Ellison, Monday, 7 June 2004 05:26 (twenty-two years ago)

on A Guy Called Gerald - Black Secret Technologies
the track "Silent Cry" has what sounds like the previous track (Goldie-collab) "Energy" running backwards at the beginning.

on How Can You Be Two Places At Once When You're Not Anywhere At All Firesign Theatre run part of one side backwards on the other - Antipodean-style.

let's not even get into the (not-really) mindfuck of Lothar & The Hand People's "Sdrawkcab"...

>All of Eno's vocals are backwards in one of the songs he did with Cluster. I think it's called Tzim N'arki. Which is fitting, I guess.

the song he's singing is t"King's Lead Hat", along with a new verse

Not sure if individual songs with backwards parts qualify here. But if they do: The first 15 seconds or so Queen's "Ogre Battle" is played backwards, then stops and replays the 15 seconds again properly. If I'm not explaining it too well, just think of it as the same as the Husker Du track already mentioned, only the backwards portion is part of the song itself, rather than being a completely separate track.

Missy Elliot?

David Allen (David Allen), Monday, 7 June 2004 06:27 (twenty-two years ago)

*Ut, "Shamshack", on Conviction
*a cassette of SY's first ep on SST has the whole thing sdrawkcab
*"Sleeping Beauty", a record of Junko(Hijokaidan)screaming, is reversed on side two. I don't believe that she was too tired to scream for 20 more minutes...

Stephen Boyle (SBoyle), Monday, 7 June 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

A Major Force track called 'ECD' I believe has the instrumental completely backwards, while the vocals yell nonsense over top.

pher (pher), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Sides 3 and 4 of Metal Machine Music, apocryphally, are Sides 1 and 2 backwards. (Haven't listened to it for a while, but I'm pretty sure it's not true.)

noodle vague (noodle vague), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Seems I recall that the Skids had a song on one of their albums wherein the singer sang over a backing track of an entire song played backwards. Couldn't tell you the name of the song, or even the album at this point.

Whatever happened to the singer from Skids? Richard something, I think. We all know what happened to Stuart Adamson, but what about that guy?

Lee G (Lee G), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

"Dog's Life" from Eels' debut album "Beautiful Freak" had its lyrics removed, reversed, and used as the backing track for "Efil's God" on "Electro Shock Blues".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Richard Jobson of the Skids became a Men's Issues/Lifestyle type presenter on Radio 4, BBC2, things like that. This makes me laugh lots.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The last track on Edsel's The Everlasting Belt Co. is the entire album either played on rewind or fast-forward. I forget which.

Nick Mirov (nick), Monday, 7 June 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

pher, the track is called 'Hand Made' and it's actually by ECD.

Flipper's Guitar - 'The World Tower' on Dr Head's World Tower samples most if not all the album during the final lead-out chorus and plays the samples backwards. It ends with a reversed 'Dolphin Song' and then a piano sample.
