Tracklisting, anyone? What should be on it?

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Angels Fell!!!!!

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

dude hasnt been great since 1996, so what do you want to guess that it's all skewed to 97-present?

anyway:

1. Soverign Melody
2. Deep Love
3. Deadly Deep Subs
4. Jah Know Ya Big
5. Warrior
6. Lionheart
7. Brutal Bass
8. Deadly Deep Subs
9. Massive
10. Tear Down Da Whole Place
11. Chapter 20
12. The Angels Fell
13. Transcope

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

the second deadly deep subs should be the remix btw

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Really looking forward to this. The few tracks I know from his mid'90s output - espec 'The Angels Fell' and 'Ja Know Ya Big' - constitue the finest D&B I've heard. He took bass in directions no one ever had before, or since.

stevo (stevo), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

seriously, looking at that list just makes me weep for what a one-note bass monkey the dude has turned into over the last eight years.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Dillinja was actually kind of the last jungle producer I'd been checking, until last year or so. On the other hand, I didn't start buying 12"es until 1996... Which is why I'd look forward to Strongo's best of Dillinja. :-)

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i dunno, "thugged out bitch" got massive play around my way. and it was a right choooooooooooooon

and "valve sound", "grimey", "muthafucka", and i'll second "deadly deep subs"

i'm looking forward to this a lot

rentboy (rentboy), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't the cybotron tunes stay on dub for something like two years?

rubbish

harshaw (jube), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

there should be some test tracks on here...

tricky disco, Wednesday, 9 June 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

So many choices from 93-98...

but pick of the bunch from my head at the moment have to be

You Don't Know (Remix)

Fluid

Violent Killa

tinman, Wednesday, 9 June 2004 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't improve on Strongo's mix.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to make it.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

...out there, in that big bad world.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the you don't know remix too. a bit. i dunno. looking at strongo's list i realise there are quite a few things i haven't heard.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

These jungle threads are like wine threads and politics threads. I'd love to join in, but...I'll just treat it like some kind of seminar.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

try a splash of the Crystl sir?

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 10 June 2004 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Promo tracklisting i've got...

My Sound
Forsaken Dreams
Friday
All the things
Sovereign Melody
Acid Track
In the grind
Angels fell
Rain Forest
Hard Noise
Mutha Fucka
Tudor Rose
Thugged Out Bitch
Threshold

Sean O'Connell, Thursday, 10 June 2004 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

that's not all bad, tho' the test tunes should stay in the rave, way too one-trick to listen to at home (as is most nu-dillinja)

top ups: 808 state - azura (dillinja remix)
deep love (remix)
silver blade
future forces - strontium jazz (dillinja remix)
bert & dillinja - lionheart

i can't believe deadly deep subs is not on there. i had a serious love affair with dillinja, he broke my heart.

nebbesh (nebbesh), Thursday, 10 June 2004 07:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i will buy the Strongo compilation.

(seroiusly, how can they put out the compilation and not include Deep Love, or Warrior, or You don't Know... they can fuck off really, sorry...)

me, Thursday, 10 June 2004 07:49 (twenty-two years ago)

two cds would sort the men from the boys. boy dillinja beats papa dillinja every time.

nebbesh (nebbesh), Thursday, 10 June 2004 07:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Warrior = Warrior Jazz? i like that. I think 'Promise' from Plat Breakz 2 should be on there, as should 'Armoured D' from PB1 altho everyone should own those two comps anyway (possibly even the third). And no DDS is the biggest crime - most of the tracks on the collection I haven't even heard.

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 June 2004 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

which means i will buy it, ha

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 June 2004 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd at least like to hear it. i haven't heard any post 97 stuff.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 10 June 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

eh, i'll probably buy it too. i guess i owe the guy some money.

a 2cd compilation would have been a good idea. or maybe they could have saved the test tracks for a test compilation (they've already done a couple of valve comps already, right?).

is "rain forest" unreleased or what?

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i was thinking today about how much better this would be if it was mixed. especially if it was mixed so a new drop would come after the breakdown after the first drop in the previous track.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 10 June 2004 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

well, yeah, that would cut down the average track length to a manageable three or four minutes. speaking of that i am wondering how they fit 14 tracks onto an 80 minute CD. aren't the test tracks like 8 or 9 minutes long each?

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 10 June 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Foresaken dreams is the current single, All The Things is the flip side, both are pretty unremarkable sub-Ram stuff. In the Grind is forthcoming and is much like Warning minus all the fun. Rainforest is penciled in for the summer and is Dillinja doing the Brazil EP, which is to say it's the usual garden shed drums with a flute high in the mix and a running water sample.

Sean O'Connell, Friday, 11 June 2004 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

okay here's the "rough guide to dillinja" i compiled last night. i think it works pretty well.

1. "gangsta"
2. "jah know ya big"
3. dillinja & bert - "lionheart"
4. capone - "massive"
5. "twist em out (mc skibadee vocal mix)"
6. "muthafucka"
7. "deadly deep subs"
8. "deep love"
9. "tear down (da whole place)"
10. "armoured d"
11. "thugged out bitch"
12. "all aboard"
13. "the angels fell"
14. "soverign melody"
15. "transcope"

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 13 June 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

please keep "you don't know" on there strongo.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 14 June 2004 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I only know "dds". Should I be excited? Do you envy my impending epiphany?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 01:40 (twenty-one years ago)

That and the track on Platinum Breakz, which is as far as my coffee table flirtation with d'n'b ever went.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 14 June 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i dunno adam. do you think in 10 years someone might get excited about an old wiley record?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

stevem (blueski), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

which is as far as my coffee table flirtation with d'n'b ever went

BACK

THE FUCK

stevem (blueski), Monday, 14 June 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
So...anyone got this.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

no :(

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

How representative is this?

1. My Sound (Intro)
2. Forsaken Dreams
3. Firday
4. All The Things
5. Sovereign Melody
6. Acid Track
7. In The Grind
8. Angels Fell
9. Rain Forest
10. Hard Noise
11. Mutha Fucka
12. Tudor Rose
13. Thugged Out Bitch
14. Threshold

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 00:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I still need to make jess' mix..I'm still working on his 7cd Timbaland one.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

That is a average to weak mix of Dillinja. Jess' is a million times better.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought so.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

my mix is really good but i burnt out on it the weekend i made it and haven't listened to it since.

that one looks ass.

jess, Wednesday, 4 August 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

That is the tracklist for "My Sound" if I didn't make it obvious.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 02:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I wanted to buy this, but 1. costs a lot at Other Music in New York, and 2. it's not mixed. Even more than techno and house, I like drum n bass to be mixed, even if it's just a pretty average digital welding of tracks...
Thing is, in the last few years, his tracks have been so overtly dancefloor that they're better for the whoooah mix sensation, than careful listening.
