uhm:

Worst LP of 2004, thus far?

it mentions the wilson phillips album a few times..

I am still intrigued.. The idea of uber-slick and soulless covers of 70s burnt-out hippie introspections fills me with sweet sweet joy.

two months pass...
I am strangely addicted to their vapid cover of 'Old Man', which seems so right in a weird nihilistic way

one month passes...
Flogging a dead horse I know but this whole album is just great.

Well the selection of covers is classic for starters. They've got a Joni cover in there.

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

well i could cobble together a collection of interesting covers and i bet you wouldn't pay money for it!

amateur!!st sings!

tracks
1. if i were a carpenter
2. is you is or is you ain't my baby
3. living for the city
4. no more drama
5. say you, say me
6. i'm straight
7. the wind cries mary
8. medley: the sun ain't gonna shine anymore/the girl from impanema/work it/the ballad of the green berets

AH yes but where's the California feel?
I might be intellectualizing it too much but the I find the idea of three "daughters-of" singing vapid covers of pretty bitter California songs very fitting.

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Sunday, 3 October 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

ah ! baaderonix ! you're getting into wilson' territories at last ! (not the usual way, though)
i've just watch the video of "go your own way" by fleetwood this morning... really awful...
so, what's up in your own private california ?

AleXTC (AleXTC), Monday, 4 October 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Baaderoni (Fabfunk), Monday, 4 October 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Wilson Phillips Stage Their Comeback in a New Original Reality Show for TV Guide Network

One of the most successful all-girl groups in music history, Wilson Phillips, is back in the spotlight and will soon star in an original reality show for TV Guide Network. The new Wilson Phillips project will give fans an up-close and personal look at the band’s members, sisters Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson, and best friend Chynna Phillips, as they stage their comeback. The singing trio made a splash this summer with a surprise cameo in the comedic blockbuster “Bridesmaids,” and the band’s members are already making TV headlines – Chynna will compete in the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars” and Carnie is a judge on the singing competition series “Karaoke Battle USA.” With husbands and children in tow, the three women are willing to do what it takes to get back on top of the charts, a feat that challenges their friendship and sisterhood. A pilot episode will premiere on TV Guide Network later this year.

“Between touring, recording a new CD and raising nine children, the show promises love, laughter and head bumping!”
“Wilson Phillips is extremely excited to start a reality show following the reunion of the girls and what it's like 21 years later,” said Carnie Wilson. “Between touring, recording a new CD and raising nine children, the show promises love, laughter and head bumping!”

“Our original programming is bringing fans closer to their favorite celebrities, and our new show with Wilson Phillips underscores this commitment,” said Allen Shapiro, Chairman of TV Guide Network.
