A year later and still barely a peep anywhere about The Bites. Magic Dirt release a great album twice, and you'd never know here in the US of A. What other great rock 'n' roll are you Australians keeping secret these days?

Tugboat's triple CD concept album will rock your lame ass.

I didn't know you were Australian!

Much like our beer, Australian only exports shit ones to the rest of the world and keeps the (marginally) better bands to ourselves.

a lot of the bites' lack of publicity is probably down to their recent lineup change. but they're going from strength to strength.

other good stuff you might have heard or might want to hear: deloris, sealifepark, further!, tides, the tucker b's.. all great, great stuff. melbourne is a bit lacking in decent stuff at the moment, but there are a handful of great bands up-and-coming.. and of course the fab Machine Translations.

Well I'm not but most of the Australian crew have seen fit to want to put me in a pot and boil me, for some reason.

mid-state orange are also good but i don't love them quite as much as some.

A friend (with usually good taste) keeps harassing me to listen to Love of Diagrams.

they have their moments of excellence, and their album captures their energy quite well, but they do have a limited palette that they draw from. definitely grab their album though, it's fast and short and quite thrilling in places.
