Am I the only person who gets kinda depressed when I see the name "Island Def Jam"?

Two really interesting and successful independent companies slowly sucked into the corporate quagmire now smushed together as a front for the Universal monolith. Now that Lyor Cohen has bolted are there any actual big players from either original company still involved with this new IDJ thing?

The two redeeming qualities I can think of for this icky new name.

1) I've been inspired to pronounce it "Island Def Jahm"

2) I think other people are starting to do this as well, which is helping to inspire a recent upswing in reggae/dancehall on the radio. Yesterday the rap/R&B station played "Coola!" and "Baby Boy" back to back, this morning I heard "Red Red Wine" followed by 311's "Love Song" on one of the pop stations. I'm sure summer has more to do with it, but hey.
