so i've been doing a regular dj night at this local club and originally it was supposed to be electro/post punk and shit like that.. but no one is really enjoying the electro so i've decided to throw it out the window and just enjoy my free drink privilages.
so what i need is a list of newish dancey indie type shit to play. shit like franz ferdinand and umm... the stills... and shit like that

ps please don't make fun of me. posting song recomendations would be great tho! thanks!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

well where to start .. track down the excellent new sushirobo album on pattern25 for more of that devo/wire groove. then again just play lots of the good devo stuff.

i love this song. a good friend made me listen to it during a trip and while it was the beat that made me like it first, it was the lyrics that got me hooked.

One of my best friends that moved away sent it to me and my friend as a 'sorry song' for missing our concert. Now it's our favorite song and we listen to it everyday. Whenever I hear it, it reminds me of him.

The beat drew me in. After staying attentive for a few mintues the lyrics started to stand out. I just sat ther listening to it watching my boyfriend. If you are in a relationship that song really expresses how a couple can feel when in the peak of their relationship. The lyrics could not have been more perfect and the music is absolutly beautiful. And if you arent in a relationship it gives you a good explanation of what love feels like. I love this song and I LOVE The Postal Service. They rock. The song rocks.

As a wannabe poet, I read a hell of a lot of poetry. Very little of it comes close to this song's lyrics. And that's without taking into account the effect the music has in enhancing the emotional impact. Or the wonders of the music itself. To rate this 10 is almost an insult. It's a classic of classics. Bob Dylan be damned; Ben Gibbard deserves our praise.

it's amazing how there are people that are dedicated to not selling out and making better music than the ones that sell out do. such as likin park. linkin park sucks. i don't think they're vocalist knows that singing doesn't require screaming. this song was amazingly well crafted and has some of the best lyrics ever. i listen to it all the time but mostly when im down.

I'm with Mark e -- all the new shit (FF, !!!, Hot Hot Heat) sounds just like the old shit, so play Blondie and PiL too since the electro-haterz likely won't know the difference.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Blondie is for corny gay dudes to dance to.

Hot Hot Heat

these guys are swell. i almost passed out at thier show-i was drenched with sweat. they were nice enough to pour thier water bottles on me and let me lay in front of thier fan. always good for a friendly rock out session.

>>By glittershit

Did they also wrap you up in BANDAGES BANDAGES glittershit?

>>By thom

wow...lots of people like hot hot heat. I know I do, the song " I ate a mousepad " is brilliant

>>By willieawesomeX

fashion fight is great too!

>>By Sexibeast

These guys played a show here in peterborough a couple months ago. It was a wicked set but they seemed exceedingly eager to get the hell out of the bar. The audience was literally still clapping and shouting while the band was getting back on their bus! No hard feelings though. The Trashetreria really is a bit of a shite hole.

>>By Doubtful D

i saw the video to their song " BANDAGES" during the summer and fell in love with the song but every time it came on i would forget to look at the band name since i was enjoying the song so much...so i finally figured out who they were and found the lyrics to bandages, and also had the pleasure to listen to most of the "Knock Knock Knock" cd. i love the song "Touch You, Touch You" its just soo kewl the way they have a really good beat to the songs they made.....thats rad!!!☻

>>By Box Trapped

I'm not usualy into the softer stuff but these guys are amazing. I saw them last year at a festival and i have to say i thought they were better than metallica (but i guess that could be because i dont like metallica and theyre set was way too long n i was way too cold to be arsed watching them).

>>By metal_kitty

i love hot hot heat, the have an exelent style and the music is cool too, is a grief that here in peru only comes good artists when they career is over

The thought of you just yesterday, Mr. Williams. Joe was showing off to his mates (this bloke who used to do a science programme on the telly and science cartoons for the Observer whose name I cannot not remember, curse this poor memory) by showing all the equipment he'd broken by fucking about with the National Grid and violet ray machines, and he dragged out my mixing desk that he'd blown up, he kept switching it on and off so this godawful howling noise came out of it, laughing with delight and saying "that's the next D1s2nf0 album right there" and Jebus Cripes, you would have loved it.
