it isnt really a backlash if they were terrible right out of the chute.

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the EP that has the hebrew symbol on it... i am content pretending that was the only thing they ever put out.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I have delay on my guitar too!

Politcal Statement = Playing the same song over and over.

Variety is bourgeois.

Rockist Scientist, Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i guess the answer to the original question is yes!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Political statement = moving exclamation point to different location in band name.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Using sound to create boredom to create political change. Chomskyriffic!

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:51 (twenty-two years ago)

That first album is really good and, in retrospect, very original. Better than most bands can manage.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I really like their first album, the last two are good. I have this really kick-arse GYBE! shirt. I guess that's all I have to say about that.

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the way the first album starts but after 10-15 minutes it wanders into a territory that's definitely not my cup of tea.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to listen to them when I am very high and it is daylight out but kinda cloudy and there is snow on the ground.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:46 (twenty-two years ago)

this is music to get tedious indie blowjobs to!! YOU ALL LOVE GETTING ORAL SEX DON'T YOU?@!?!@

0r4l R0b3rt5 (ex machina), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

0r4l R0b3rt5 (ex machina), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

GY!BE BJ!

0r4l R0b3rt5 (ex machina), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

So let me get this staight so far...

The backlash is still on unless you like oral sex?

We can't have a proper backlash unless there's concensus!

peepee (peepee), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

CHORD CHANGES ARE DECADENT
ORAL SEX IS THE PATRIOTIC DUTY OF THE PROLETARIAT
etc.

Nick Mirov (nick), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

hooray

0r4l R0b3rt5 (ex machina), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

They started to retread old ground on the second song of their first album.

King Kobra (King Kobra), Thursday, 17 June 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

"This NEXT one...is....the SECOND SONG....on our new....ALBUM"

(protracted 45 minute buildup, cheering subsides rapidly)

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 17 June 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

OKAY...
To recap:

WE never liked them at all, cept for maybe the first couple of minutes of the first record.
Or when we were stoned, it lasted to track 3.
Or up to the point of laughing at an instumental band discussing politics in interviews and press releases because those forums are for talking about instruments and producers and shirts.
Or some of us liked them originally, but now not because others made fun of them and the people who listen to them and that seemed funner.
Or maybe 1 or 2 of us think that its still good music, but not as good as it once was not because the music changed, but we changed (and plus that fall on the ice last winter left a tingle in my head).
Or because although we're sure we like oral sex, we're not sure whether that means we like them or hate them, so we err on the side of dismission.

peepee (peepee), Thursday, 17 June 2004 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

or maybe they, y'know, suck

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 17 June 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)
