Anyone notice some fascinating similarities? Was one of them listening to the other?

You mean Burzum's ambient pieces like Tomhet, Rundgang..., Den Onde Kysten, Svarte Troner, etc? I'd think that's more of a case of similar influences (Tangerine Dream et al) than a direct connection, but it could be.
