What Is The Going Rate For A Bigname DJ Booking?

Suppose a venue books a somewhat big-name DJ, someone like DJ Assault, for an event. How much would a DJ like that typically get for a night of work? Does the venue pay for the DJ's transportation as well?

My neighbor, DMC champion P-trix, charges $600 - $3000 a performance.

It is more difficult than that. It is a matter of the size of the venue, the location of the venue, what time of week it is, and who your connections are. You are going to pay less for a Thursday night gig in a small venue if a DJ happens to have a larger gig on Friday night in another nearby city. Also, are you dealing with a booking agency or are you dealing directly with the DJ?

I am not sure what DJ Assault asks for, but I bet he does not work for less than a $1,000 outside of the Midwest, and probably a hell of a lot more in Europe.

Yes, when it comes to professional DJ's, the venue always provides airfare, lodging, and sometime provides a Per Deim allowance.

also, as a point of reference, Jeff Mills and Derrick May charge between $4-6000 depending on the gig.

It also depends on the date...DJs can charge double or even triple on new year's eve. Supposedly Jeff Mills was paid $60,000 (CDN) to spin in Montreal on new years eve 1999. I'm sure the number is even higher in bigger cities.

wasn't Junior Vasquez supposed to have charged £100,000 to play in Tokyo once? or is that exaggeration?
