ILM Listening Chambers are MOVING!

That is, I've decided to start a separate forum for the Chamber threads, since they get lost so easily in the ILM miasma.

Henceforth, all Chamber threads can be found at the ILM Listening Chamber LUSENET forum. Calibrate your browsers thusly.

A new thread will be posted shortly. Much obliged.

Partly to alert non-weekenders like myself, I'll post here. But a question, popshots: are you going to put links to the threads without answers yet (16-18) in the new forum? Also, what does "Blurbs for old Chambers forthcoming" on the homepage mean?

Dave I liked it better when these songs got rubbed up against by smelly ILM opinions and thangs! [Can we put it back in ILM??]

[pleeeeeeze?]

Tracer Hand, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Perhaps, perhaps. I just hate the idea of the threads getting SWALLOWED by the usual ILM traffic (which varies, but can be huge) and lost to those not specifically looking for 'em. You see the quandry I'm in.

David Raposa, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

here's my rationale: if they're hard to find on ILM now, it'll surely be more difficult to find them once they've vanished completely! people who want them consolidated and easy to find already have a way for this: the actual Chamber page on your site. but people who want the conversation to, erm, rub up against (sorry can't think of better metaphor) the other conversations lose if all threads move elsewhere. incidentally i = both kinds of people. (and yes this has TONS to do with the fact that my submission is the first to get cut out of the IL-loop)

Tracer Hand, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

David I think tracer hand is right. The traffic on the listening chambers is too small to justify a new forum. The few people who have posted there would probably even post less if you would move it somewhere else.

or it might allow the Chamber to develop more of a life of its own. I started off posting diligently to every one, and then (while still downloading the songs), I lost a bit of interest. So, if the LC (not the divine one or the Pinefox-adored one) was a separate entity, I might feel a little more, uhm, obliged to comment on every track posted. Then again, cut off from it's ILM host, it might wither and die completely. More opinions needed!

oh and word to the popshotter: yes some of them ARE very moving aren't they?

Tracer Hand, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tracer, that was a horrible pun. I'm so proud of you.

Cases made for keeping the forums here seem to be more valid than my reasons for "splitting". Because of my impromptu hiatus from posting chambers, it looks like a move now would be tantamount to suicide. Given the "outpouring" of support for keepin' 'em here, I think they'll stay. I'll repost the thread for 19, and post one for 20 later this evening. And then I will once again attempt to stick to a regular schedule.

PS - The "blurbs" were going to be nothing more than the track info + (ideally) some babble from the track's poster as to why they offered this track. Not many folks seem that forthcoming, however, so I think I'll just post track info. This will happen later as well (preferably after I stop blowing my goddamn nose).
