It seems like from the 60s (or earlier) til the 80s most country songs were about sad subjects such as alcoholism, being in prison, or (especially) unfaithfulness in a relationship. Things started to change in the nineties and now it seems like all country songs are about having a good time or "how much I love my spouse and how beautiful my kids are". There are a lot of exceptions, I know, but in general I think these are the trends. Why did the themes of country songs change?
