I've heard the name, but know nothing about them...couldn't find much online either, and their website didn't have mp3s....My band is probably playing with them later this month so I was wondering if any ILMers had info on the Parenthetical Girls?

"Inspirational Short Pants" is the best song title ever

For anyone in the Minneapolis area looking for something to do next Tuesday, my band, Maps of Norway is playing with the Parenthetical Girls with another (very great) local band called Thunder in the Valley...

Thunder in The Valley
Parenthetical Girls
Maps of Norway
Tuesday. August 24 at the Dinkytowner Doors: 6pm $5 ALL AGES

should be good and the Dinkytowner is a great all ages venue...

six years pass...

privileges pt.2: huh

mainly for 'young throats', which sounds convincingly like it came from the sort of band that would wear neon and use rave-y synths and title a song something like 'young throats'

i still can't decide if i like this band or if they're intensely irritating.

two years pass...

They just scored major points with me:

this band is pretty hit or miss but entanglements is an insanely good album

flopson, Wednesday, 13 March 2013 01:46 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't heard "Privilege" compiled but individually I loved all those EPs
And "Entanglements" owns

one month passes...

so i saw them live like a month ago and they've turned into a surprisingly good live thing

i thought they were still shambolic and twee live and instead they're more beefed-up than on record (countdown to "not hard": three, two ...) -- also zac pennington's schtick and camp is marvellous and he works a venue pretty well.

the bitcoin comic (thomp), Thursday, 25 April 2013 01:26 (thirteen years ago)

i have spent the following month trying to work out wtf is going on in 'privilege'.

the bitcoin comic (thomp), Thursday, 25 April 2013 01:26 (thirteen years ago)

yeah they rock pretty hard live

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 25 April 2013 14:14 (thirteen years ago)
