Ok I have vague childhood memories of this being a hit, but is it really so wrong to go out, on a random Saturday night in the summer, to a disco/house beer garden event, have a few drinks and a nice chat with someone you've fancied for a long long time, get on the dancefloor as this smooth garagey synth wash kicks in and the old school pianos pop up, and think "this record is absolutely perfect".

Fuck Jay Kay's arrogance and Jamiroquai, seriously is this an amazing record or what??? It's PERFECT!

I have very similar feelings bout "When You Gonna Learn"

When this emerged in about 1991 it was like a classic before it wad released - like nothing else around. When I listen to it now I have to try and put to the back of my mind what I subsequently learned about the artist

i really really like this album (and all the attendant remixes) and really really don't like the others (especially the 1st album and everything after the one with the ferrari design on the cover).

ronan it's funny you bring up the summer beer garden experience because i first heard this album in late july / early august of 1995 when i was vacationing in the semi-rural south of germany.

i don't know if you've ever been there but all i remember is long sunny afternoons that gradually faded into warm moonlit nights, sitting by the lake or the canal or on little footbridges, and beer gardens and lots of jamiroquai and ashley beedle.

that's cool, actually last night I was there dancing away and I actually thought for the first time this year "wow it actually is summer!". it was all there, nice crush, good music, beer, and the profuse forehead sweating caused by the few measly weeks of humidity we get over here, haha! the dj encored with the glimmer twins mix of "lost in music".

it's weird how this track became so classic - i remember it topping a Kiss FM poll in '96 (they gave it considerable airplay, they would play remixes of Jamiroquai rather than the originals - the Sanchez mix of 'High Times' was good) and it was only then i realised how popular it was. at that time i was really enjoying Morales formula, even with Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton or whoever - deluxe aerobic dance-pop American style, tho perhaps a little anodyne and too desexualised from the gay black roots...still the Bad Yard stuff was alright.

and i still like 'Too Young To Die'. Perhaps Gareth will pop up to remind us that he likes 'Little L'.

Masters @ Work remix of "Emergency on Planet Earth" is better though!

"Masters @ Work remix of "Emergency on Planet Earth" is better though! "

Seconded - one of the few remixes I can think of that blows away the original version.

Barima pops up to remind us he likes 'Deeper Underground'.

And I do love the Morales remix. Must be one of KISS FM's most played records. I like almost everything about it, from the boompty-meets-garage breaks, the quicksilver groove, the vague libidinousness of it and the dancefloor funk. And the way it kicks the shit out of the original.

people! you dont have to apologise for liking jamiroquai! you seem to be coming out the closet to admit yr shameful like for individual tracks. unnecessary! jamiroquai have done loads of good tunes/albums!
whats not to like? oh, "Jay Kay's arrogance"? you mean, like every other frontman/woman in the histroy of bands, ever?

say it loud, i like jamiroquai and im proud!
