I just saw Ryan Adams & Parker Posey in a Korean Deli....

So, there I am with wife and child. The Missus is buying some sliced mellon while I'm unsuccessfully trying to get the guy behind the counter to sell me the tacked-up poster for the Ramones' End of the Century film (yeah, I know, I'm a pussy for not just ripping it off, but the guy was standing right there and would've raised Cain). In any event, he wouldn't sell it to me (the DICK!). While I'm frowning about this and unsuccessfully trying to convince my wife not to buy the sliced mellon in protest, in walks Ryan Adams (who, I should point out, sucks) and his girlfriend Parker Posey, who peers down at Charlotte (the baby, in the stroller) and sez: "Awww...cute baby," and then buys a pack of smokes.

End of yawnsome anecdote. We left with mellon, yet no Ramones poster.

When you retell this story, it should finish with you pulling a gun from a hidden compartment on the stroller and getting your revenge.

dean? (deangulberry), Monday, 16 August 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

this is more nefarious than some building.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, where you wearing your ILX shirt?

dean? (deangulberry), Monday, 16 August 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

UGH. "were"

dean? (deangulberry), Monday, 16 August 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

he was wearing the thong.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 16 August 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. Neither thong nor ILX shirt. Nor pistol. Perhaps things would've turned out differntly had I been sporting only a thong and brandishing a pistol, but alas...this was not the case.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 16 August 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

What doesn't Alex want to kill lately?

SEER (cs appleby), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

most unrealistic story ever. and i mean before the ryan adams, parker posey part.

darknaut3, Tuesday, 17 August 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Ive seen them too...a couple months ago walking by tower on 4th, both very short.

I wanted to push them both, face-first into a puddle.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought Parkey Posey was dating the guy from the Goo Goo Dolls.

Mark (MarkR), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

ddb is mental, Parker Posey is teh luvvly. OK, seeing Ryan Adams (and not me!me!me!me!) is almost unforgiveable, but I would hug her and squeeze her and call her George.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Managed to rip off afore-mentioned Ramones poster from a 3rd Avenue laundromat this morning, so all is well.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

aldo, lovely on-screen, totally.

real life, sorry bro...no way.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Deli celebrity: best sliced really, really thin.

briania (briania), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

sez "Awww...cute baby," and then buys a pack of smokes

this does seem like a missing scene from henry fool...

amateur!!!st, Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate when random celebrity girls I love to creepy extents are caught going out with shitcocks.

Way to snag the poster, by the way!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

good call, amst.

i saw parker yesterday on 2nd avenue. it took everything that i had not to run up behind her screaming "AIR RAID!" - no matter how awful she is, her turn as darla will always be a thing of beauty.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

is she really awful? i think i hated her in party girl, but since then she's been ok in a lot of stuff so i've kind of forgotten my initial hate.

amateur!!!st, Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Hasn't Parker developed some sort of middle name lately?

nabiscothingy, Tuesday, 17 August 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i love PP in party girl.

I would like a nice, powerful, mind-altering substance. Preferably one that will make my unborn children grow gills.

I thought you lived in NYC? What were you doing in Korea?

Huck, Tuesday, 17 August 2004 17:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Considering what you look like, gimp-boy, that's a compliment.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)

oh come on, cheer up emo kid!

Looking like Booger I can live with. BUT CALLING ME 'EMO'? THIS IS WAR!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Selfishly, I am worried that ILX'ers are advertising this treat of a board. I don't search for these types of things but according to Spencer Chow there aren't any ILX equivalents out there. What if it gets so big it explodes? I would feel sad.

Nice-looking shirt, though.

I am officially rendered disgusted and speechless by the above image. On behalf of Donkey Kong, I am standing down.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

It exploded about two years ago, Thea. Some of us pine for the "Old ILM".

Mark (MarkR), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

constantly

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The poster in question....

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

now what would you've done if ryan had been able to walk out of there with said poster¿

dyson (dyson), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

he'd be dead now.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

wait a sec where can I get one of those c/d shirts? shit is fresh.

57 7th (calstars), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh Thea, don't fret about the naysayers. And come to the FAP darnit.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG MARIO G4P1N6 4N4L!!!!11!!! IT IS TIME TO DELETE THE INTRANET!!1!!1

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I know Ned, my above posting was somewhat ignorant but I couldn't help it. Spencer, whom I was pleased to meet in person on Saturday, in his typically diplomatic and wise manner referred to the fact that the old ILM was pretty different.

FAP yes, I plan to be there except I'll have my 18 year-old brother with me who won't get into Akbar. But as he's rather cute, maybe one of the boyz at the door will be charmed and let him through.

Thea (Thea), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer, whom I was pleased to meet in person on Saturday

Ah very cool. :-)

You're pimping your brother as jailbait? Shocking!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh. He needs his eyes opened. I'll watch his "back", don't you worry.
