This is so killer. Anyone out there got anything similar to recommend?
Its a great fusion of soul and Ska. Blew my preconceptions about Ska.

Just kind of coming into rocksteady. I have also been listening to the Melodicas and am uploading a Ken Boothe cd to my computer.

How can we have a million hits for a Dizzy thread. But only one small thread for a genre that obviously kicks ass.

Can it be that ILM is too concerned with the fresh and new?

Sunday Coming is another great Alton Ellis album.

Other rocksteady singers to check out:
Slim Smith/The Techniques/The Uniques
Pat Kelly
The Paragons
The Melodians
The Gaylads
The Heptones
Delroy Wilson
Bob Andy
Derrick Morgan

Presenting Larry Marshall is an album which contains some of the earliest reggae songs, but it has more in common with soulful rocksteady than the militant Rastafied music that most people think of when they think of reggae. One of my favorite albums.

xpost possibly so, but I think that's an ILM-specific phenomenon.
