I'm going to be meandering around Europe for three weeks. My first stop off is in Munich, where I'll be meeting an old friend who I'll be travelling with. It's going to be a pretty open brief for Europe - I'm getting a Eurail pass for 15 days which gets me to a lotta places. I am sure that I'll end up in the UK for my last four days of my stay (I'm meeting/seeing friends there), so I might check out some places there that I know of. Prior to that though, what's some cool places I can check out?

Germany, France, Spain and Italy are quite cool.

Get to Berlin. Munich's nice, but Berlin's not. If you know what I mean.

I've heard from a friend that clubs in Munich were "really boppy" where Berlin was a bit darker and straighter, if that makes any sense.

Are there any particular nightclubs that'd be good to head to, Guymauve?

PS: I might start that band when I get back, Fritz...

I'd poke around Mitte and Prenzlauerberg. A couple of "illegal" bars like the Waffengalerie, which is run by Russians (Kleine Rosenthaler Str). There's a great Russian disco, CCCP, on Torstr. White Trash on Torstr. can be a bit much, but worth a visit. Some other places which might have interesting nights: Auslander, NBI (Schöhauserallee), Bassy (down the street from NBI). Grab a Zitty or Tip and you'll be good to go. I'm sure Momus could recommend other places. I'm not up on Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg really.
