And Who Are The Britpop Legends Reforming?

Brit, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It's an ILX favourite!

Brit, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

sad and desperate

Bumfluff, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

RELEASE THE HOUNDS

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I was hoping it'd be the triumphant return of No Way Sis.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Who would you like to see reform then?
Suede?

Brit, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Coming soon to Butlin's, Prestatyn: OCTOPUS! 18 WHEELER! ECHOBELLY! LUSH! POWDER! KULA SHAKER! HEAVY STEREO! MENSWEAR! RIALTO! SPACE! PARIS ANGELS! CHAPTERHOUSE! DAVID ESSEX! MARK MORRISON! COMPERED BY WILL OUT OF TFI FRIDAY! AND KATIE PUCKRICK!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

prestatyn deserves better, I think.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Does it fuck, it's a grim place. Also Marcello forgot Sean Maguire

DJ Mencap0))), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

It's surely less grim than South Shields, and even South Shields doesn't deserve that rotten shower!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark Morrison's Britpop output criminally overlooked.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

(no) pun intended

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

just shows that oasis won the britpop battle but blur fucking won the war... blur's growing and developing while the gallagher bros are trodding around, still bitter, still stupid, and still doing the same thing they were doing 10 years ago.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

...

Which Bald Man Won The Comb, Though?, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"blur's growing and developing"

Say what?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think this thread was started as a place to take the issue seriously, but I could be wrong

xpost

DJ Mencap0))), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Say what?

There's always one.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i think that think tank is a bit of a progression...
what are your thoughts? i'm not saying they are the most innovative band on the planet but you know
they aren't oasis

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't know why i bothered to post i should have known better

emmm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

It's just one of those days isn't it

DJ Mencap0))), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

So Blur won the war by being slightly less sucky over the past half a decade than Oasis? I guess congratulations are in order then. HUZZAH!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

well pulp was always the best of that movement anyway.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

There wasn't a movement, there was a media machine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

don't let these assholes get you down emm

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a movement ned. music meant something.

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha I bet that Jarvis Cocker just LOVES being lumped together with Blur and Oasis (not that I personally see much difference, BUT I am sure he would.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yes i suppose you're right. A huge ass media machine.

sigh.

i'm sorry i'm so "stupid."

even damon knows jarvis is better than him. He said so in an interview i saw.
Yes, i'm sorry, I watched an interview with damon without my tongue in my cheek. Heaven forbid.

all i'm saying is, oasis kept being all, we're the voice of the workers, but the only person who really said anything ever was jarvis.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

"Voice of the workers"?!?!? Like *they've* bloody well got anything to say! Humph!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd say thanks, cinniblout,

but i'm not sure if you're making fun of me.

and the thing is that i can't even claim that i have better things to do with my time than you guys or anything like that. I just like something, actually a lot of things, that's arent cool enough for here, and i guess i should have kept it in the closet.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't lie, Blount, you were listening to the Supernaturals this morning.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

lots of people on here still like 'Definitely Maybe' don't they? I do I guess.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Emm, being serious here -- like what you like, don't let anybody tell you otherwise, but don't be surprised at the vehemence of disagreeing opinion.

Still a DM fan here too.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I doubt that anyone would admit it.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

yea i know. I'm a hypocrite too because i do it to other people. People who are even LESS COOL than i am! GASP! Like right now i'm in the editing office and someone is doing a scissor sisters review and i do NOT think she is qualified

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Still a DM fan here too.

Me too; I was going to pull out _Black Celebration_ the other day but noever got around to it... oh wait, you're still talking about Oasis, aren't you.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ned- oh i expect vehemence. I'm just not ready to dismiss britpop all together as seems to be the overwhelming opinion. Maybe it was never innovative per se but it didn't have to be. i know i claimed earlier that blur was innovative but what i meant was that they've grown more and oasis is stagnant.
blah blah
no one cares anymore

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too; I was going to pull out _Black Celebration_ the other day but noever got around to it... oh wait, you're still talking about Oasis, aren't you

I was actually going to make the joke but you carried it through brilliantly.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

right now i'm in the editing office and someone is doing a scissor sisters review and i do NOT think she is qualified

Do you not have any peacocky gays or sad housewives who can do it instead, then?

DJ Mencap0))), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 14:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh and cheer yourself up with this:

The Britpop one hundred hall of joy! - Classics only.

DJ Mencap0))), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, there are many peacocky gays here.
and this girl is definately not. I think she might even someday be a happy trophy wife
ew
i honestly don't even know where she got it, or how

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

emm never doubt my sincerity!

pulp >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> blur >> oasis (the cw's right)

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

awwh thanks dj
that did cheer me up

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw this thing with jarvis
and it was an interview
and he was laying in bed looking out the window , fully clothed.

emm, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I love Definitely Maybe, and the poofs in Blur can suck my left nut.

57 7th (calstars), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't that make you.........nevermind.

Krankenhaus, Tuesday, 24 August 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I was so excited that this would be a Menswear thread.

Also, does whining about people not liking your favourite bands = The New Black?

noodle vague (noodle vague), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

They will be joined in the studio by Noel Gallagher to remember the album and to talk about what it was like to follow up such a landmark record.

DJ: "Ten years later. Sort of pissed it away, then."
NOEL: "Yep."

Gear! (Gear!), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I really don't like Jo Whiley. At all. This can only be a bad thing.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't see any down side to not liking Jo Whiley.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant..., oh, you know what I meant.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Noone likes jo Whiley. She's no hairy cornflake.

DLT, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

can we all read THE LAST PARTY (otherwise known as *the* fckng last word on this tedious subject) and be done with it all.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

i remember several oasis singles fondly, they sounded nice on the radio as a cheery british respite from soundgarden and stp

artiste (artiste), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I do like the way they are quite open and staightforward about how crap they've become.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)
