do you go and see the same bands each time they come to your town?
how much do you spend per month on tickets or do you get into most gigs for free?

dickvandyke (dickvandyke), Thursday, 26 August 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I see at the most 2 or 3 shows a month.

What can I say, I hate people.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 26 August 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

lately, 0.

frankE (frankE), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't seen a show in a long time sadly, which comes from working 16 hours a day.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

2-3 a month, give or take, if there's none (or a lot) that I want to see.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Varies. Try to make at least one a month but sometimes a slew of good shows will come along in a row.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Popping in for a cold one regardless of who's playing: 4-6 per month.
Actual show or concert that I spend real money to attend: 1-2 per month.
I can comp into a lot of shows, but not usually the good ones.

briania (briania), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Shows that utterly rock my world: 1-2 per year.

briania (briania), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe one every three months. oh how times have changed.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Rock music doesn't excite me enough any more to go gigging very often. Last gig with, you know, proper instruments and stuff: Freestylers, back in May or something. I've been clubbing many times since then.

Wooden (Wooden), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

3-4 per month, guest-listed for about 75% of those.

Joseph McCombs, Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

pretty much diddo what Joseph said for me...

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 26 August 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

er, ditto

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Thursday, 26 August 2004 19:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Three....mostly all local bands.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 August 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Jee-sus, you guys make a poor showing. I go to about five a month and I think even that's not a great amount. There's something about going to shows that works even if you're skint - you get to combine music and sociability, whereas if I bought records instead I would never ever get to see anyone. Plus a lot of bands can be better live than on record (though vice-versa is true on occasion).

emily kawasaki (emil.y), Saturday, 28 August 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, average over the last ten years... I guess somewhere between 0.1 and 0.3. No gigs so far this year; three last year. I rule!

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Saturday, 28 August 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

probably 3.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 28 August 2004 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

difficult to judge. I have been known to go for over a month without going to a gig. Some months I might go to 5 or 6.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 28 August 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

40 gigs and three festivals so far this year.

Chris Trew, Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I think "gig" implies you're performing. If that's the case, 0.

I usually hit 1 or 2 "shows" per month.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 28 August 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Far too many..

Last year and earlier this year I averaged about 8 or 9 gigs a month, but then I had to slow down for my exams. And haven't quite 'recovered' yet. September looks good for gigs for me... so it'll probably be near 8 or 9 again.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 28 August 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought you meant gigs as in "gigabytes" at first.
In that case, about nine or ten.

In real life, something like three or four.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 28 August 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Three or four gigs total in a good year. Last year was an extra good year: went to FIMAV.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 29 August 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

one a week, usually

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 29 August 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

In my musical hayday, about once every two weeks to see "big" acts. Every Friday and Saturday night to see the locals.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 29 August 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

you know what? live music suck 90% of the time.

heroes + villains, Sunday, 29 August 2004 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

9 or 10. Probably only 3 or 4 international bands a year, though.

kit brash (kit brash), Monday, 30 August 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

5-10 i guess... there was a period a few years ago when it'd be closer to 20..

chris andrews (fraew), Monday, 30 August 2004 01:14 (twenty-one years ago)

It all depends... There's been months that I've seen one to two shows a week for awhile, but then there's been dry spells when nothing is going on.

The one constant is that I skip the opening bands unless it's someone I already know.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 30 August 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

0.25

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Monday, 30 August 2004 08:48 (twenty-one years ago)

zero. i don't like live shows much. plus no car, money or friends who like the same music.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 30 August 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

well, the only big one here this month was that dried up old hag ciccone.

and i wasn't gonna bother my arse with that, now was i?

daz, Monday, 30 August 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

on average probably 8-10. definitely at least one a week, often two or more.

purple patch (electricsound), Monday, 30 August 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)
