Has anyone heard this? Probably the best hip-hop album of the year by a long shot. The Briar Patch is that rare case of a song 'actually' being genius.

yeah i wrote about that exact song on my blog about a week back, it's absolutely chilling, the rest of the album doesn't even begin to compare but it's still great, maybe a little too same-y in the laid-back blunted-out shlumpin' thing Devin's always doin'

The song's a clear standout (it's scary and emotional and hynotic) but then the rest of the album really starts to reveal itself if you give it time: The title song is majestic and the last song is like a corny We Are The World thing that doesn't come off as corny (the opening couplet just sounds so 'right': "My talk is slightly different and my walk is not the same/I can't pronounce a couple of words that's in the dictionary mane!"

Got it last month and I'm pretty sure that it's gonna be the best hip hop release of the year.

'Unity' is a bit of a confusing track but when you're as bright as Devin you get a fuckload of leeway from me.
