Dropped one perfect track on Warp and then was never heard from again. Now his story can be told ... by you. To me. Please?

not much of a story. originally the record was put out as a white label by this guy from falkirk in scotland who went on to manage the utah saints. he knew next to nothing about dj mink (he told me he thought he was some hip hop dude who wanted to try his hand at making a dance record) but liked the demo that fell into his hands enough to release it. i believe nightmares on wax fell in love with it and played it at their night in sheffield which led to warp licensing it. the warp version is slightly different to the original release and of course also contains the mighty rob gordon remix.

and that's it. the enigmatic dj mink releases one of the ten best ever warp 12"s and then vanishes without a trace. the interesting thing about 'hey hey can u relate?' is that it's not really a hardcore / rave record , it's more of a modern funk explosion and still sounds timeless to this day.

'stop look and listen the position you wish you was in, words comin out from the power within...'

is all i can remember from the rap

i think i've heard the rob gordon mix but not sure - it's not the one on Dope Classics compilation i assume?
