Diane Cluck

So, Diane Cluck. I've got her s/t album, which I bought on the strength of "Monte Carlo" from the Antifolk comp. It's really pretty beautiful in an ethereal/spooky kind of way throughout, sometimes sounding like a circus and sometimes sounding like crying. Her voice is distinctive enough; at least she enunciates and doesn't rely on upper-register, traditionally pretty "girl vocals."

What do you say?

bump-a-lump back onto today's new answers. TELL ME IF HER OTHER ALBUMS ARE GOOD, DUDERS.

she is on AIM. monte carlo is good. dom is yr man, I think.

cºzen (Cozen), Friday, 27 August 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

she did a song with my buddy Jeff Lewis (on a split with the abhorrent Kimya Dawsom) that was one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. I spent a year emailing Diane and Jeff trying to track down a copy. It's called "The River," I think.

She's really nice. Was almost in W00den Wand & The Van!shing Voi!ce but she backed out to concentrate on her own stuff. Haven't heard any of her recent work. I'm sure it's good.

and you know that she is on devendra banharts beautiful "golden apples of the sun" compilation. she doesn't belong to the antifolk-circle. she owns too much heart for that bunch. diane is capable of songwriting from which you soak every syllable into you. Her voice doesn't sound like this and that. It's purely diane. I think she is still not very known just because she likes to keep it small and private. I truly understand.

this is a horribly written review of her two albums, lumped together...tis a real shame because I think she's really wonderful and not nearly as baffling or pretentious as this idiot reviewer seems to think she is

Holy fuck that's PFM's worst review of the year so far.

"Oh Vanille" is lovely, if unmemorable.

I just heard the songs "Real Good Time" and "Easy to Be Around" and promptly ordered Monarcana.

Diane Cluck is lovely. I have Oh Vanille and another pink album of hers which I don't really listen to. I listen to OV every once in awhile, though, and I love a majority of the songs, especially "easy to be around."

Such a unique voice. I've been captivated by Oh Vanille for awhile now.

I was kind of surprised she's grouped with that anti/freak folk thing too, heard "that coal mining song" (aka Easy To Be Around) quite randomly and really like it! Can't say a great deal of recent singer/songwriter stuff charms me so effortlessly.

Hope to catch her next time she's playing live near me, sadly missed a recent gig she did.

lovely singer. had the chance to briefly chat to her once, kind lady. i missed an opportunity to see her play at the morden tower in newcastle, UK, too - just near where i live. the venue is no bigger than a living room. the room sound on her recordings is really nice

I liked that one when it came out, I should go back to it and see if it holds up.
