ILM 90s Poll

I want to start a new thread on this one coz the others are just getting way too big:
Can we do the 90s one in two halves (a 90-94 and a 95-99 poll)? There's just too much music otherwise. And please, please, please can we do it without nominations?

Jamie Fake (the pirate king), Friday, 27 August 2004 17:49 (twenty-one years ago)

"GIVE IT UP" MUST WIN (at this second, anyway)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

the PE song?

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, I like doing the whole decade better.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I don't remember anything about the '90s.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ALBUM: Chant, The Benedictine Monks Of Santo De Milos
SINGLE: Enigma, "Sadeness, pt. 1"

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthony wins

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

(and I was talking about the Goodmen version)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

There must be a list of nominees (maybe a lot larger than the one for '00-'04). Otherwise every album will get one vote.

daavid (daavid), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to change my single vote to Joe Public's "Live And Learn"

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Scratch that. Queen, "Bohemian Rhapsody."

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Single: Ugly Kid Joe "Everything About You"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the fact that as of now 2/3 of the single nominees come from the Wayne's World soundtrack. Great minds think alike.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i love teh scene where Wayne and Garth lip sync to "Live and Learn" with their mulleted posse

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

If there are nominations, change the methodology - the 1 nomination rule in the 00s poll was insufficient to represent personal faves.

Other than that, as i mentioned before there could be a split system have the initial nominations and then have separate 10 wild card choices. With the poll results kept separate, one of the formal nominations and the other for the maverick personal choices.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

DJ Martian to nominate all the TOOL albums! ;)

dyson (dyson), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

can we have like a month of regular ILM before we delve back into the lists?

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

the nomination rule was great. only albums loved by somebody should be elligible for vote. all the rest is a waste of time. though i still don't understand who loves kid a...

alex in mainhattan (alex63), Friday, 27 August 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

If we are going to do it the same way this time with the nominees, I think we should be allowed to nominate at least two tracks and albums.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 27 August 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree w/ Dr. Bill. It gives us the list a chance to be idiosyncratic and strategic at the same time.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I might use three of my noms on Orbital, in that case. Hopefully someone will cover at least one of 'em for me.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe we should have submit top 15 hates AND likes the next time, with the hate points worth, say, half as much as the likes (and carrying a negative value, of course).

This way, we can avoid high rankings from extremely contentious singles and albums.

I'm serious about this, I really think such a system could be helpful.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

stevem better start digging his own grave.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno if it's worth it to try and tear down albums like that so much.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think 15's way too much, and even 3 noms might be pushing it, but I like your hate idea, despite quite enjoying Ok Computer.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I don't remember anything about the '90s

*Tries to remember early 90s. Fails. Sighs with relief.*

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Although I suppose there's lots of stuff that I'm deeply apathetic toward.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i just want to go on record, i don't think this is a good idea

artiste (artiste), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 28 August 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, if we're actually going to do this, taking nominations is the only way to go.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

ALBUM: The Soundtrack to It's Pat!
SINGLE: MC Skat Kat, "I Ain't No Kitty"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I will put up a post! I don't have the know-how for a website poll so I'll do it the olde-fashioned way: e-mail
