I guess it is unhip around to like anything Neil Finn, but I think the latest is one of best Neil (and Tim)has done. Anyone else?

I'd agree, except the positive greatness of Neil's songs this time around really shines a spotlight on just how mediocre Tim can be.

I looked in the liner notes and couldn't find where any songwriting credits.

I just assume each is singing songs he wrote, but I could be wrong.

I first heard that beautiful "Gentle Hum" song at a Neil solo show a year or two ago, so count that as one of his.

I dunno, I think Tim can be pretty amazing. Live, together, Tim has great presence and a bit less, um, purity. I almost bought this today and bought A Ghost Is Born instead. I'm sort of wishing I bought Everyone Is Here.

Everyone Is Here has more better songs than A Ghost Is Born. You made the wrong choice.

Anyway, I'm not anti-Tim, but I ride Neil Finn's jock at almost Geir Hongro levels.

The song Try Whistling This completely floors me. And no I wasn't saying you were anti-Tim. There's something about them together though which, live, makes me appreciate Tim more than I used to. Of course I'm going to have to get this and post back to this thread with a blindingly accurate summary.

Oh crap! Is this out now? Well I know what my next purchase is likely to be then.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 28 August 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a good way through my first listen... liked the first track, but since then feeling a little apathetic. Uh oh... what's this? Edible Flowers with Tim wallowing gleefully in the maudlin and overly sentimental? Shockah!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 August 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

it has four really really good songs, which is about as much as you can ask for wherever tim's involved these days

mark p (Mark P), Sunday, 29 August 2004 13:08 (twenty-one years ago)

fwiw:
"everyone is here"
"nothing wrong with you"
"a life between us"
"gentle hum"

Hey, were you at the Massey Hall show? Unfortunately I heard about it too late to get decent tickets, and what was left didn't deserve the $$ (learned the hard way how obstructed the view is in those upper tiers.)

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 29 August 2004 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't find out about it until after, doubt i would've gone anyway
