OK I can't believe this hasn't been done yet, but i did a quick search and came up with nothing in the archives...

so slow jams - by which i mean good slow songs to dance with another human being to, not your favourite nick drake ballad to weep along with by yourself, ok?

I nominate:
No Diggity - Blackstreet
Knockin' The Boots - H-Town
Night Nurse - Gregory Isaacs

Wishing Well -- Free

Lots of stuff by Free, actually.

George Smith, Monday, 30 August 2004 04:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Y'all so crazy. "No Diggity" and "Pony" may be sex songs, but they're not slow jamzzzz. Swirling gusts of orchestrated eros is what we're after. Starting with "Do Me Baby," there's about 50 Prince songs that fit the bill.

Also, the Dramatics - "In the Rain."

Dudes, I could go on forever.

My personal favorite is either "Sweet Thing" by Chaka and Rufus or "Pink Cashmere" by Prince. Or anything off of Marvin's "I Want You".

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 30 August 2004 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Or Jimi Tenor's "Midsummernight".

"U Got it Bad" by Ursher (if only for the wanky guitar solo at the end)

"Straight Fucking" by The Transitions

Track ID question: slow jam oldie with spoken word part, includes a line about a breakup that goes something like: "and then I listened to all my records til I just couldn't stand them no more" and then something about "rolled up into a ball and wanted to die".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Always and forever
Each moment with you
Is just like a dream to me
That somehow came true

And I know tomorrow
Will still be the same
Cause we've got a life of love
That won't ever change and..

Every day
Love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away
With a smile

Take time to tell me
You really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
I'll always love you Forever

There'll always be sunshine
When I look at you
It's something I can't explain
Just the things that you do

And if you get lonely
Phone me and take
A second to give to me
That magic you make and..
Every day
Love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away
With a smile

Take time to tell me
You really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
I'll always love you Forever
