Brad were originally going to be called The Crash Test Dummies.
After this idea was nixed, they named themselves in honour of the already-in-existence band's singer, Brad, as a sort-of 'fuck you'..

I am not sure if I understand this thread, but I really like Brad's Shame. And I understood that they wanted to name the band Shame, but the guy who already had a copyright or whatever to the name was named Brad

i've done it and it does work. to an extent anyway. it would probably work with any number of albums and movies. i'm quite sure there was no intent whatsoever on pink floyd's part. but art in general is full of unintentional coincidences.
