What did you think of the Dido bit the first time you heard "Stan"?

Like most people I had never heard Dido's "Thank You" before I heard Eminem's "Stan". It sounded kind of like an old Roberta Flack song, and I remember thinking, "This it is good enough to have a song of its own
. (I thought it was made for "Stan").

I thought of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer says "flinty"

She probably heard the chime of a thousand cash registers.

I thought it was a great hook, but it turns out there's not much else in the original. Not that I can hear, anyway. Maybe someone should cover it, someone good.

"Thank You" is a wicked song, but i'm not sure i'd think the same if i hadn't heard it in "Stan" first.
