"lovebirds" might be their best song yet.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Saturday, 11 September 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Must get this (rather than download it, that would be wrong).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 11 September 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

god, how rad is that cover? rick's art style, to me, has always been focused on the fundamentals of pre-computer graphic design. all the covers i've seen done by him have suggested hours of sketching by hand, chopping up rag mats, x-acto knives, linen tape, ink, paper, sweat, blood. everything very neat and clean, but not afraid to show half-erased guidelines, for example. and an emphasis on balancing detail with these really broad penstrokes. just look at the thing. it's got a soccer ball and a pirate and a sword-wielding cartoon cat and a fleur-de-lis. i fucking LOVE fleur-de-lises. it's weird and busy and draws your eyes around the whole thing. an excellent composition and i wish i had his skillz.

as far as the album goes, i just got done listening to the whole thing, and it's MEAN. faster than the first one, even. rick hasn't seemed so perturbed since the jehu days. he really belts out some rough lines here. it's great. love this band very much. yanc3y OTM, "lovebirds" is by far the standout.

They've got the track "Hi-Lights" on the Swami Records site for those without soulseek. I'm very excited for this album (and I'm gonna see them in Philly right after it comes out!).
