corniest attempt at 'funk' ever. well, not THE corniest, but its definitely up there. the guys sings like a cocktail bar, lounge parody of other parodies of soul and funk singers that weve heard in recent times like pharrell, sleepy brown and those guys, and the bottom line is that his voice is just pretty bad, stiff, and devoid of musch ability. a lot of people seem to love it though as they think its cool and a return to 'the real funk'.

I love OutKast, (first album) N*E*R*D, Cee-Lo etc. but was thoroughly unimpressed with Plant Life. Unless you're a card carrying disciple of the Giles Peterson/Worldwide church, I'd say: avoid.

So the new album, 'Time Traveller' is out. It's more groove- and hip-hop-oriented than the last one (which had some pop/rock tracks). I'm liking it, but I wish there were more "songs" rather than jams that don't particularly go anywhere. It kind of reminds me of Sa-Ra Creative Partners, who also sound great but can't seem to be able to write tunes.

Basically, I don't think I'd be all that interested if not for Jack Splash's vocals, which I've always loved and found amusing (the way he says "yeah.")

still hate these guys.

would like them more maybe if splash wasnt singer. he seems to write decent songs for other people.

This Jack Splash guy is a great producer... he's done some of my favorite songs this year. Solange "T.O.N.Y."/"Sandcastle Disco", Raheem Devaughn "Mo Better", Jazmine Sullivan "Switch!", Estelle "Pretty Please (Love Me)", Jennifer Hudson "All Dressed In Love", Alicia Keys "Teenage Love Affair"/"Wreckless Love".. he has a great sound. Him & Cee-Lo make a great team as well..

got a jack splash mixtape in the mail and i really like some of the songs/sounds, but he really should have had other people rap/sing on them. cuz i don't think i can listen to him that much. even his fx/autotune voice kinda bugs me. so, someone let me know when he produces an entire album for someone who is fun to listen to, okay? or let me know about one that has already come out.

he was doing a whole album with Cee-Lo years back, but I guess it got derailed by Gnarls taking off
