I find it amazing that, in most dialects in the Spanish-speaking world, the chorus to his hit single translates to: "You have a tremendous asshole" !

i'm not feeling this at all on the first few listens...there's one track with rumbling piano chords that's pretty cool, tho. i'm sort of grumpy that i shelled out so much for this cd...

any thoughts on pitbull?

I like Pitbull. I think I actually like the last mixcd better than the album, but i like the album too.

I just heard "Toma" on the radio. I loved "Culo" already. I think I need to buy this ASAP. I wish that "Gasolina" remix was on it too. Pitbull + Lil Jon fries my brain.

I was trying to figure out why the duo make me so deliriously happy and then I remembered my favorite band ever is Bon Scott-era AC/DC. There's a similar aesthetic at work.

i ended up buying it. it's ok, but i think i'm gonna sell it

I got it as a promo to review but someone had already reviewed it for stylus. I hope they send me a copy of the new ying yang twins album before that drops.

Oh and yeah I like it a lot, I think if he really steps his game up on the next one he could drop a great album.

The album is great.

My one prayer for the next one: No Oobie.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 21 July 2005 02:35 (twenty years ago)

i just bought it last night!! (funny to read yr comments upthread: i also bought it on the strength of hearing "toma" on the radio, but partly also because of his turn on "shake" from US of ATL)

can you believe that while i was looking at it in tower i thought "oobie" was "oobie trice"? oops.

first impressions: he is funny (talking abt tequila: "like 50, i take nine shots") and likable - but i guess i already knew that from when he hosted MTVJams "top 20 southern rap videos of all time"

five years pass...

finally checked out Armando. I dig it, it's all in Spanish, but it's not hard-edged like the earlier stuff he did, very latin infused and doesn't even have an explicit lyric label (tho I suspect that has more to do with it being all in Spanish)....still some fun tunes on it tho.

I keep listening to his albums, but I still think he peaked with the second one, El Mariel.

that's not funny. (unperson), Saturday, 26 March 2011 01:37 (fifteen years ago)
