just read on register about grouper

about grouper which allows you to set up mimi p2p style groups where you stream the music from group rather than download it, so they claim its only legally equivalent to listening to records round mates house

i haven't tried the software but seems like a interesting possiblepermatation for the mp3 blog

it only permits streams of music files, while permitting downloads of other content.

i assume it cannot tell what is contained within .zip or similar files or mp3s renamed to .txt or whatever? still, might be worth looking into - i've pondered the virtues of micro-community-based p2p for a while.

i mean the fact its only a stream of the music isnt implicitly bad

surely it's know different to the "only keep on your hard drive for seven days" thing?

and quite often i only listen to the music to understand the discusssion around it rather than keep the actual song
