This s*it is hot. hyperminimal neptunes beat w random synths and human beatbox. can't get it out of my head for the last three days. what do other people think about it?

I did a thread on this a little while ago but didn't get much response -- but, yeah, this song is KILLER. I love the musical tongue clicks. This should have come out in the summer; it would have been huge!

It's been on the radio on the local Clearchannel-owned hip hop station every time I get in my car. It's pretty cool production-wise, but it's just not that hot to me.

VERY nice.

m. (mitchlnw), Friday, 24 September 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

that slide whistle was money well spent.

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't sure I liked it at first, but after having heard it only once or twice, I keep hearing DROP IT LIKE IT'S HA-OT! in my head. Classic.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

real cool.

Mil (Mil), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

probably one of my favourites this year.

snoops is awesome on this.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
I wasn't big on this at first, but it really grows on you.

"I keep a blue flag hanging out my backside/ But only on the left side, yeah that's the Crip side" - Snoop making up for appearing in Old School

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

this is the most drugged out song on the radio at the moment.

that is a compliment.

Disco Nihilist (mjt), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

whats wrong with appearing in old school.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

god, that video!! It's on ITMS if you want to see it. Check the blinged-out iPod.

caspar (caspar), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i adore this song

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

still killer

lovely

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that lyric is definitely the LOWlight of an otherwise excellent song. He fucked up that P.I.M.P. remix, too, with the gang shit. You would hope that someone who knows how many kids listen to him would fucking think for a second. What is Snoop, ten years old?

ILX crips, please don't hunt me down

Clusterfuck at the Baja Fresh Salsa Bar (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the beat more than words. The 'hook' is pretty boring, though.

mcd (mcd), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

at first i found it a bit "thin" but after MANY times, i begin to like it. i really like the loud drum. plus the video is kinda minimalist cool too. considering the latest DC single and some other trax over the last months, seems there's a very minimalist thing goin on in hip hop/rnb...

yeah, it's weird, a couple years ago he was talking about making his records more kid-friendly (and vowed to say "nephew" instead of the other n-word in his rhymes), but he keeps throwing crip references in there.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

revival ? or nostalgia maybe... it used to be his playground, you know...

AleXTC (AleXTC), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the line, that's the place in the song where he's most like early-Snoop. But it seems completely out of place given his recent past of showing up on MTV Cribs as a family man, coaching his kid's football team, doing comedies with the cast of SNL.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The beat breakdown is pretty good. POOM-PO-PO-POOM-POOM.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The album has leaked and is sounding rather good

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 4 November 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

my friends make fun of this song, particularly the way he says hawwt, but they're jackasses anyway.
this is how minimalism should be done. i dig the white noise bit in it.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 November 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like a metro area hip-hop beat.

tylero (tylero), Thursday, 4 November 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

p.s. my brother thinks that the white noise is supposed to be a spraypaint can spraying, and I kind of agree with him there.

tylero (tylero), Thursday, 4 November 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, the album turns out to be Snoop's R&B/Soul album. Certainly sounds like the Neptunes produced the whole thing.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 4 November 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

xypost: I'm sure there are some ten-year-old Crips who appreciate the gesture.

Loose Translation: Sexy Dancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 4 November 2004 19:13 (twenty-one years ago)

are the other fucked minimal hiphop tracks out there right now that sound like this?

Disco Nihilist (mjt), Thursday, 4 November 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously, this track makes me fell like I am 19 and on teh durgs,

Disco Nihilist (mjt), Thursday, 4 November 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

It doesn't grab me no matter how many times I listen to it.

adam... (nordicskilla), Thursday, 4 November 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 November 2004 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
what this song would sound like if the artists weren't so fucking lazy and concerned with being all gangsta, and also if the rapper were any good - Fabolous, "Breathe"

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

also, the unintentional gay subtext is pretty funny

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Love it.
