I asked about the "arms-ass" thing on another Dizzee thread and no one answered me satisfactorily.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It may be the most American-sounding hip-hop beat, but I LOVE it.

I've been wondering about the arm's ass thing too.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Is learn about people reading too much into him?

(Also, was it stevem who said that this is the Jus A Rascal of Showtime? That's a good point. It should be a single).

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it was "arm's house".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

The transition from this -> "Hype Talk" is one of the best song->another song parts of any album of all time. Usually when I say things like this I'm exaggerating, but not here.

I think "Fickle" is my favorite, its also v. american sounding.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Thats the interview where he talks about UGK? Yeah that one's great.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Thursday, 14 October 2004 19:40 (twenty-one years ago)

it's armshouse, yes. not arms ass. what would that be? rectal entry up to your elbows?

DVD (dickvandyke), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, i cant lie, that murder dog interview might just be the best dizzee one ive read. better than the ones on rwdmag's site, junkmedia.com, plus the guardian too. i think the fact hes talking to an american mag helps cos theyre inquisitive to know all about the scene and the music cos its totally new/alien to them. i like murder dog.

DVD (dickvandyke), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Well what does "arm's house" mean?

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

im assuming it means house of arms, as in firearms.

DVD (dickvandyke), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, like a House of Pancakes?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah but without the smiley customer service.

DVD (dickvandyke), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You've obv. never been to an IHoP.

That is a great interview btw, I like the bit about Soulja Slim. The track he mentions (Soulja 4 Life) is brilliant.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 October 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i need to get into souljah slim more. i need to investigate old no limit and cash money more too, actually. any recomendations would be great!

DVD (dickvandyke), Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

"armshouse" means a fight, throwing punches

bludclawdt (bludclawdt), Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, so what does "arms house" actually mean?

Keith McD, Friday, 15 October 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

respect me and get by are way better than learn! omg

p$, Friday, 15 October 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, I made that exact shift myself. the bassline on respect me alone...

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 15 October 2004 04:13 (twenty-one years ago)

and he sounds so hardcore! "no apologetics!"

p$, Friday, 15 October 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

"fickle" is the best.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 15 October 2004 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

fickle is the best.

DVD (dickvandyke), Friday, 15 October 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Fickle is great but but really badly produced - it sounds all tinny and the beat is kind of cluttered. Which is a shame because with a bit more bass it could have been the best thing ever as opposed to merely fantastic.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 15 October 2004 09:19 (twenty-one years ago)

thats the best thing about it, thats whats so great about the bsides, theyre not all polished and slicked out, theyre underproduced, and RAW.

DVD (dickvandyke), Friday, 15 October 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

fickle is a killer song.

DVD (dickvandyke), Friday, 15 October 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)
