S all that good shit, Zapp thru the New Zapp IV You, the Many Facets of Roger. My older sister was a delinquent before me and this and One Way and the East Side Story older comps were the soundtrack to us ditching school together to go to the Slauson Swap Meet

Also also, there's a FANTASTIC Roger Troutman spoof on Chris Rock's "Bigger & Blacker" album.

His last recording ever = the hook on Kool Keith's "Master Of The Game", one of Keith's best ever songs IMHO.

Always knew a couple of his biggest hits but after getting the first couple Zapp albums and a best of Roger & Zapp, I got to say as much as Roger Troutman is credited, I have to think his influence is still a bit under appreciated.
"More Bounce to the Ounce" alone is a crazy ass production for 1980. I always thought that tune was later than that, as it sounds so mechancial and perfect, it sounds like MIDI.

Recently picked up The Many Facets of Roger and it's kicking my ass pretty hard. "Do it Roger" and "Maxx Axe" have some incredibly funky synths and really tight guitar playing. The man was a lot more than his talk box. A funk legend, to be sure.
