all day: Stina Nordenstam ft. Brett Anderson, "Trainsurfing". Nothing came close to replacing it until someone bumped up an old thread, and now it's: Truth Hurts ft. Rakim, "Addictive". Going round and round and round.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

success.

Unsuccessful.

John Ashcroft's resignation has lodged "Let the Eagle Soar" into my brain.

Nemo (JND), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

What a perfectly timed thread - this usually doesn't happen more than 2-3 days a month, but today is one of those 2-3!

Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" is the offending song. I've been trying to substitute "Off The Wall", with intermittent success.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Extraordinary by Liz Phair and I got rid of it with H.W.C. also by Liz Phair.

I've had the propulsive bit of "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull (ba-ba-ba-BAM-BAM-chugga-chugga-chugga etc.) stuck in my head for fucking days. I'm currently sitting in an internet cafe on Laguardia Place and they're playing a relentless onslaught of 70s AM gold that I'm sure will take its place.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That "My name is Talulah" thing off the Bugsy Malone soundtrack. Haven't really gone for replacing it, as it's kind of nice, and will go away of its own accord eventually.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm now going to try to replace "Let the Eagle Soar" with "Where Eagles Dare," by the Misfits.

Nemo (JND), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

...as well you should.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

gogol bordello's baro faro
it's way too good to want out of my head

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Heard my first Christmas season in-store CD while getting coffee earlier, and have since had "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..." on a loop. Managed to squeeze it out with Mylo's '(Motherfucker) Gonna Drop The Pressure' for a while, but it came back.

Graeme (Graeme), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Disco Inferno's "Bleed Clean" and I have no intention of replacing it, damnit!

Ian Moraine (Eastern Mantra), Thursday, 11 November 2004 17:31 (twenty-one years ago)

squeezebox, by the who. i replaced it with hybrid moments, by the misfits.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 11 November 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

"I'm in Great Shape" from Smile. This was the song that replaced "Mother Sky", but it's not as cool, so I wish I could go back.

Dominique (dleone), Thursday, 11 November 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"I don't wanna be buried/in a Pet Sematary/I don't wanna live my life again" over and over and over.

I'm looking through the cds I brought with me today for a possible replacement. Underworld? Uncut? Karl Hendricks Trio?

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Thursday, 11 November 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Once my cousin went around saying "I'm going back to Cali, to Cali, to Cali, I'm going back to Cali, I don't think so" every few minutes, and eventually this ear-worm crept into my head, finally resulting in a headache. Upon reading the title of this thread years later the headache has come back. The punchline has been altered slightly based on some Ali G character, I think, to "ich don't think so" but that does nothing to mitigate the throb. Hopefully through the magic of the Internet, I can exorcise this headache and give it to one of you. If that doesn't work, I guess I will try to transition to Big Ol' (Ole?) Butt or Jingling Baby.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 11 November 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Just replaced "I want you to want me" with "It was there that I saw you" by Trail of Dead. Works every time.

Melson (ArchCarrier), Friday, 12 November 2004 06:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Replacement (occasionally succesful): Bubblegum by Annie
